A true LABOR OF LOVE

A really good game.
If only the people playing this game were as decent as well... xD

But if & when you find the right server -- or decide to host one yourself? -- and/or the right people to play with...
Ab.
So.
Lutely.
Fabulous.

The game has grown a lot during the years.
A high recommendation.

With a slight warning of snarky, toxic teens who will write/shout obscenities at you, and have no problems killing you 16 times in a row with their remote controlled flying gun drone or pimped out AK rifle, while you just found a fricking pipe to replace your "rock-on-a-stick"... GG.

You need audio to hear the audible cues (while fixing generators)
The heartbeat hastening while the killer is close is a neat psychological trick.
Few games generate such authentic fear as DbD has managed, I like it and I recommend it!
Just not as the last game of the night before sleeping...

As far as side-scrollers go, this is an excellent way to pass your free time.
It has all the characteristics of an excellent game:
- Sometimes annoying / frustrating
- Sometimes challenging & rewarding!
- Makes you want more...
- ...While not being to hard to pause / put down in favour of something else.

Element 1/3: L4D2-type gaming mechanic. (Team of 4, you and 1-3 other people / bots.)
Pro: Very good mechanic, fits the genre & game perfectly. Bots are not completely useless either.
Con: Bots are still plaqued by strange scripted behaviour. Like falling off a certain edge in one map.

Element 2/3: Warhammer backstory & lore.
Pro: Very good idea! Immersive world, rich backstory & lore, fits the chosen game mechanic well, allows mission-style game play with ease...
Con: Only Skaven have been used. (Vermintide II will improve upon this.)

Element 3/3: The loot system, not borrowed but done by Fatshark.
Pro: You get new stuff. (Later patches have improved this in the form of a shrine & quests.)
Con: You get the same stuff you already have. You may complete the map with a grimoire, 3/3 tomes and a loot dice or two, and still get "crap". The "game of chance" regarding the loot is just that; Random. Too random.

Overall: Not a bad buy at all! :bigups:
Like most CO-OP games, this too is best enjoyed with friends.
The online community seems rather tolerable so far. (There's teamwork, and I haven't encountered any random kicks yet.) The DLC are a bit overpriced (three new maps?) in my opinion, especially with the looming release of Vermintide II.

If you can snatch this with a discount (sale!), and like the genre in general, go for it. Totally worth the discounted price, while waiting for the Vermintide II.

The game engine is familiar from L4D2.
Pro: The subtle random changes in every re-run of a map/contract are very refreshing and a nice touch.
Con: Some people sometimes end up restarting a contract X times just to get the "Meth Lab on the 2nd floor" etc.

The game is very different from the zombie shooter, and much better than the original Payday. Stealth actually IS an option in many of the missions, there are alternate ways, the skill sets etc...
Pro: Stealthing something difficult always gives such an adrenaline rush, especially when succesful!
Con: Guards & "suspicion meter" is slightly unrealistic, to the point of being hilarious at times.
( YouTube sums it up nicely at https://youtu.be/EP4xdHryM7U )

You get up to two bots to accompany you (can be toggled on/off), and the team size is capped to four. Bots suffer slightly from AI/scripting issues, but Overkill is aware of this and are working on an improvement, I hear. Familiarly enough the bots also don't carry/drop anything, and of course there is no tactical commands available for the bots, such as "stay" or "follow".
But with other human players, tactical approach to any heist - regardless if "loud" or "stealth" - brings a whole new aspect into the game.
Pro: Best enjoyed with 2-3 friends.
Con: Random online people still don't know how to play the game.

And by the last bit I don't mean they would be new or unskilled, no. They just don't know how to adjust the settings, like when creating a game, how to make it a PRIVATE one or FRIENDS ONLY game. It kind of sucks to join a PUBLIC game only to be kicked out right after. Or when you join a lobby, and ask: "Stealth or loud?", the host says "go", and when you don't click the "ready" checkbox in 10 seconds you're kicked out again. It's players like that who ruin the whole "online experience" in ANY game. PAYDAY 2 is no exception.

So yes, once again, best enjoyed with FRIENDS, or at least human beings who can communicate and express their desires by other means than kicking. Or at least with players who would know about the various game settings :P
That being said ... keep the helmets flying!

The #1 Clique Maker: "You either play or you don't."
...And when you don't, and your friends do... Sucks.

Also the #1 reason why people should be able to sell / transfer ownership of the games on their Steam Account (as per EU laws, as well) ... Because: Once people turn to DOTA 2, they no longer make use of their other games. The few times they play something else they could just as well try a Free-to-Play game, it's about as often and as useful.

Have too many friends to play with? Gift DOTA 2 to a few of them - problem solved.

There must be something to this "competitive, repetitive grinding" that appeals to many.
Not me personally. :P (I never was "competitive" enough to begin with, I think..)

Good Tactical Team Survival FPS.
(With waves: Staging time with Trader, and then Fight Time!)
Best when multiplayered (with friends), 3-5 team is my favourite size. The sixth slow, while supported by the game mechanics, makes things "too hectic" for me.

Easy to "drop in" (if you have a good team that gives you money if you're a late-comer) and do a few rounds and then log off when other duties call... I like! I recommend.

Good story & plot, jokes that appeal to me, easy on older computers (runs on my laptop)... And as usual: Best when MultiPlayered with Friends.
