China’s infrastructure is centrally planned by the government, mainly through the NDRC. It includes the world’s largest high-speed rail network, vast expressways, modern airports and seaports, and a rapidly growing 5G and fiber-optic telecom system. Energy is managed by state-owned companies, with coal still dominant but renewables rising fast. Urban areas are built as smart, high-density cities. Most projects are funded by state banks and built by state-owned enterprises. Globally, China exports this model via the Belt and Road Initiative, building infrastructure across Asia, Africa, and beyond.
