I saw this game and though; "Looks like a 3D Motherload", and that was just what i got.
About 1.5 hour to complete the first play trough, then i spent another 1.5 hour achievement hunting and messing about.
Got to burn of an afternoon on some dumb/relaxing fun and that was kinda what i wanted.

Early Access Review
Enjoyable City builder, but still lacks a lot i wish from a game that mixes a medieval city builder with Total War esq tactical battles.

No Fortress/Castle/Walls.
AI got to much A and to little I.
Game map is so small it's reminds me of playing Skirmish mode from earlier RTSs, but with the city building slowing the game way down.
No diplomacy.
No Politics.
Late game is just the same but bigger.

I still give it a thumbs up because it is enjoyable to play, and I didn't expect anything more when i bough an early access game.

Enjoy the setting and the diversity of factions/units, but its all a skin on top of a weird feeling battle engine that don't do it for me.

Different faction also have a diversity of campaign map mechanics that can be fun to play around with, but again the base campaign mechanics are boring and overly restrictive. Its all built upon bad foundations.

Game isn't worth playing beyond turn 30 a lot of the time since the AI isn't able to consolidate empires strong enough to put up a challenge. So you end up mopping up small states until you have painted the map your colour.

Was enjoyable at first because of the nostalgia, but the open world didn't do it for me and the story was only okey.
Ended up wishing that the resources of this game had been spent on the different character you meet in game with only the Hogwarts grounds being open for exploration. Then they could have spent the development on a better story/linear experience.

Feels like playing a cookie clicker... with a boring war mini-game stitched onto it.

I usually don't enjoy these "try, die, repeat" games.
But this one has a really enjoyable combat, and a story with characters you can get invested in.
Big thumbs up!
