Early Access Review
And to think the game was supposed to come out a few years ago, if this is what we get after all this time, I can only imagine how awkward the game would have been then and there.

I don't know if it's because the first game used the source engine or where most of the people who actually worked on the first game are but this does not feels like No More Room in Hell for me.

If you liked the first game do not buy this game YET with a bit of luck they will fix and improve stuff

By far the best hentai game on the market.
Quality content : the CGs are excellent, tons of variations.
The gameplay isn't innovative but it's not your boring rpgm fight.
You have to work your way through the prisons, each level has it's own kind of inmate :
Humans (and the sub-genre like nerd, thug,...), Goblins, Orcs, Lizard-people, Slime, Werewolf, Yeti
Each inmate have their own interactions with you if you choose that path (why wouldn't you tho?).
Each attacks has it's own animations (same for the H-attacks they have a lot of variations)

Keep one thing in mind while playing this game, it's important : Stay hydrated

It is hard for me to comprehend how a company such as EA has a dev team such as Respawn to make a game that is one hell of a successful shooter and one of the best Battle Royale in the current market and more than two years, TWO.YEARS. after it's launch there are still way too many bugs, glitches and straight up unbalanced weapon(s) (looking at you new mlg called rampage and good old R99 and spitfire).

The servers are so bad that it can from time to time not register your shot even more this season (from my own experience).
They're making a so much money that is the first thing they should upgrade but they don't, they want to support this game for 10 years and they don't even want to do it.

Most people are going to be brain dead and by that I mean no game sense whatsoever on average let's say you're playing 10 matches you'll have once or twice decent teammates that won't run away from the team to go and fight on their own a whole squad of 3 people that are going to laser him in a single second or people that once in a fight will never retreat to gain any kind of advantage they're going to stay and fight until 4 other squad storm the building and in the end it's gonna be pablo gonzales 2007 who's gonna live because he threw the nades at the last man alive with 20 health point.

There are no Skill Based Match Making for the people you face AND most importantly, for the people you get paired with.

It baffles me that Respawn hasn't said yet "ok we gotta stop pumping content in the game for 3 to 6 month, we have way more than enough to survive until then, now it's time to fix the game and to make it an overall better experience".

The moment where your community has better idea than the devs about how to balance/approach a problem you know that something is not right and while Apex is a hit, it misses on sooo many levels that it hurts to watch it being in such a state.

I always wanted to try Halo out but compared to Titanfall or Team Fortress it feels sluggish.

Is the game bad?
No obviously not, if it was the the game would have been dead and forgotten.

It didn't resonate with me and that's why I don't recommend it, there are better game, older for sure but better and more enjoyable.

I've given the game a fair chance after the beta that got me quite excited in all honesty and I was waiting for the balance update to see if they would change things for the better but they didn't.

To give you an idea of what is wrong with the game currently,
Recruit is way too easy
Veteran is a good challenge, unfair most of the time.
Nightmare is, guess what? A nightmarish option that is ridiculously hard and not enjoyable in the slightest (for me).

The major problem is the balancing of the ridden and of very specific chapter in pretty much every act, some are ridiculously easy and some are just so unfair that you can not win no matter how hard you try . . . unless! . . . unless you get lucky in the special ridden spawn and in the corruption card the game picks because when you have a finale that spawns an endless horde of ridden and that as soon as you kill one another one spawn and the same goes for the special ridden they constantly spawn (multiple of the same kind) and as soon as you kill one, no cooldown or whatever, another spawn you have no break, no 10 seconds between each waves or whatever to quickly heal up and get closer to finding X briefcase in a manor that can spawn at set location randomly to actually to complete the objective.

It shouldn't be like that, I understand the idea that they had and it's a very interesting one but it's so soooo poorly executed it's unbelievable.

The special ridden are straight up bullet sponge that deals lots of damage or slow you down, which they should, they indeed should slow you down but not by having an insane amount of health, that's p*ss poor balancing remember that this game has been and is still being advertised as made by the creators of Left 4 Dead and yet the sublime balancing/gunplay/readability of said game is nowhere to be found here, nowhere.

Now then, the eagerly awaited update that would fixes most of the issues that many people had with the game (special ridden spawnrate, corruption card that are simply so strong they can put a stop to your run, the endless waves of ridden during specific act that makes them pretty much impossible to complete because they're spawning non-stop and a major balancing in the difficulty) came out and it fell flat, they buffed the problematic ridden (more health), they buffed a boss (which was terrible before, now he is more threatening) and they nerfed some of the card that are used by the cleaners.

They did not listen to the feedback and they instead did the exact opposite of what needed to be done.

How to fix/balance things properly?

You either reduce the health of the problematic special ridden OR you make them spawn a lot less and not in group of 4 times the same guy, you can't have both.

At the end of each act, put the hordes on a timer, every horde beaten gives you a 10 to 15 seconds to allow you to proceed to the next step of the objective currently there is an endless horde spawning and you can not proceed to the next step without some insane luck (example: sometimes you have no special ridden that spawn and other time you have 3 of each of them spawning).

Fewer card for the deck but make them much more significant instead of "+5 move speed" , "+20% reload speed but -20% stamina efficiency",... the current card are filled of this junk.

The corruption card are either not threatening enough or they are going to make your near impossible/such a pain in the b*tt that it's not even enjoyable anymore and if a game isn't fun, why bother?

____________________________________

The game is unfair and poorly balanced, they want you to play slowly instead of rushing through the levels and yet they're making it harder and harder to actually play safely, nice and slow.
The characters are bland and uninteresting and so is the story and the world of the game, a solid 40% of the game is you going to the exact same map but taking a slightly different path.

No modding support in any way, the numbers (on PC) for the playerbase on steam are below those of Left4Dead2, we went from 65987 players to 15000 players and it hasn't been a month, l4d2 is currently 10K above that and is always above B4B at anytime.

Killing Floor (the first one) was and still is much more entertaining and much more challenging and way more balanced than this.
Deep Rock Galactic is already in it's early life a much more enjoyable, balanced and challenging (if you want it to be) game.

Back4Blood is having a very rough first month and I hope that it won't be Evolve all over again.

For what the game is, it's amazing, short but that is a good thing.

You're playing as something, don't know what it is but it's smart, fleshy, and it grows quite a lot.
You have to escape the underlab where they imprisoned for whatever reasons they had in mind after finding you in an old cave, I insist on the old because the devs could expand the lore a bit if they want to, it would be great.

The gameplay is great, you get stronger when you find a "pod" that countain part of yourself (I believe), each time you retrieve one of your part, you power-up, more health, new ability, a new tentacle to grab multiple thing/furniture/human at the same time,...

The puzzles are alright, not too hard, not too easy.

As I said, the game is relatively short, between 3 to 6 hours to complete but it's perfect that way, longer and it would have felt like they had nothing else to show and/or to keep us entertained and shorter it would have been a scam, and, personally I'm definitely going to play it again.

It's different from what we're used to play it's not groundbreaking but it's something and it's refreshing.

Despite the fact that you can finish the game in a relatively short amount of time ( between 4 to 8 hours to finish it +/- ), it has a decent replay value due to the fact that the gameplay is really well done, it is responsive, challenging without being insanely hard, you have to think how you're going to kill all the bad guys and analyze the layout of each "board" to effectively slash your way through the next one.

You will die in this game . . . a lot . . . BUT thanks god after each death you don't even have to wait a second before you can start again. Each death is a learning experience, maybe you went too fast or maybe you didn't, maybe you should have thrown that knife to this guy instead of that guy. It's rare to see a game that let you approach a situation with different angle because you have everything at your disposal to beat it, you just need the practice.

The soundtrack is really REALLY . . . REALLY beautiful and mesmerizing, it's so good that at some point in the game you're no longer thinking how I, as the player, will clear this level but how I, as the character, will ( Breath of the Serpent ). Just an amazing hearing experience as well. (is hearing the right word ?)

The story is, as the dev calls it : " Unconventional Storytelling: An enigmatic story told through cinematic sequences woven into the gameplay, twisting and folding to an unexpected conclusion. "

I can't describe it better than that honestly.

I'm going to spend more time playing that game on hard mode, simply because the combat feels great, the soundtrack is one of the best that I've heard since a long time and the story is really captivating and intriguing.

There's gonna be a sequel by the way

I've never played the first and the second game simply because I was intimidate by the Dark Souls franchise.
It's a franchise that is well known to be hard, unforgiven and that only a a human with godly reflexes can beat but . . . obviously that's not quite the truth.

The game is not actually hard, the only thing that is hard is that it's complicated at first for the player to understand that he isn't an overpowered human that can cut through an army of demon with a chainsaw or a semi-god that can kill gods with his bare hand, you are just a nobody that has to fight his/her way through a dark/corrupted world.

You have to learn how to fight against giants, knights and a whole bunch of other creatures that are much more skilled than you.

You will have to understand that to progress in this game, as well as any other From Software / any game in general, you will have to take some hit to learn how to dodge them, you will have to miss your attacks to know when to attack, you will have to lose to know how to win.

The most important thing is to stay determined no matter what, if you are dying against a boss over and over again just stop playing for the day and come back the next one, it worked for me so maybe it will for you or you can ask for some help in the forum, people are always willing to help newcomers never forget that because they too had to learn how to play Dark Souls.

After more than twenty hours I finished the game and yes it wasn't easy, I died 104 times and yet I haven't fought against every single boss (I think that I am missing like 2 or 3, maybe 4) and I think that I will start on NG+ to see everything that the game has to offer.

This game is worth your time if you are willing to let it teach you how to play it.

First a few (dozen of) words concerning the Early access.

Aaah Dead Cells, I've seen this game going through so many changes during his EA that it's a completely different game than when I bought it and let me tell you that this game has been perfectly handled by Motion Twin from the very first update (elemental update) to it's release the 7 august 2018 (1.0).

Motion Twin is one of the very VERY few devs that, how to say it . . . They know how to communicate and that's why the EA of Dead Cells was really well done (if not perfectly done). They told us what they were up to, what to expect (not everything of course, secret secret~) when to expect the update to be live and most important, we had a real feed-back with them, they were (and they're still) listening to everything, bug(s) report, weapon(s) improvement (as well as skill), enemies (360 mage) and of course bosses because at one point, a certain boss had . . . . a ridiculous amount of health and could combo you to death =) No it's not the HotK, even though he is tough for new player .

Anyway Anyway, perfect EA from the very beginning to the very end, awesome developers.

The game itself.

I'll try to keep it simple, this game was a big surprise to me when I first played it, I remember that I kept dying over and over again and yet I always came back for more, I knew that it was MY fault and not because the game was too hard or too unfair, it took me a while to get comfortable with it and it took me a while to reach the final boss (back in the day the last boss was the Watcher aka Conjonctivus) and it took me even more time to beat The Hand of the King (big grown up adult call him Hotk).

This game features :

13 Levels - Each one with its own atmosphere, foes and secrets to discover.
4 Bosses - Made by the most sadistic of the devs, raised on the salt of the testers.
90 or so weapons and skills - Spears, swords, bows, freeze blast, etc.
4 special powers, unlocking new areas and paths (metroidvania gear lock items).
1 epic responsive, fluid and fun to play combat system.
1 Daily Run Mode Complete with leaderboards for lording it over your mates.
Hours of fun (depending on your skill, anything from 10 to 30 hours or more).
A few rage-quits, Ok a lot of rage quits… But you’ll git gud… Eventually.

(^ taken from the steam store page of dead cells, scroll down a bit and you'll see the features)

Give it a try ;)

And now a few Dead Cells videos that you should watch so you're in the mood to play it =)
I hope this review somehow helped someone to decide whether or not he/she . . . /it should buy the game

the frontline shield is op, some weapons are better than others and the nutcracker is the best weapon in the game
