A dastardly disaster of an FPS, so heinous and corrupt yet I'm hooked!

Once upon a time, in a galaxy very, very near, I fell head over heels for the electrifying thrill-ride that was Titanfall-2. That high octane drugged up movement legend of a game, draped in flawlessness, was ♥♥♥♥♥♥ for all it was worth then left alone in a dark alley to rot, underrated and overlooked. With the heralding of Apex Legends, the bastard child of the abused TF2, my heart was aglow with anticipation! Although it wore the bloody mantle of 'Battle Royale', the genetic imprint of its Titanfall parentage held promise... Oh, the tragedy of misplaced faith!

Don't misinterpret my musings, dear reader. Season-0 was the dazzling maiden voyage, a maiden who only grew more radiant till season-3. But, like Icarus who flew too close to the sun, the subsequent plummet was swift and painful.

The shadowy puppeteer, EA, wore its capitalist agenda on its sleeve, a well-tailored suit of exploitation. We, the willing marionettes, were ready to cough up our cash in the name of continual freshness. Yet, instead, we were served the same stale bread, over and over, each season echoing the last. Player engagement rose and fell in sync with the seasonal LTM's and the ebb and flow of the collection events. The grind... The prestige of TF2 was sorely missed, its absence deepening the void. Meanwhile, the matchmaking system lurched around like a drunken sailor, prompting fervent pleas from the community for an intervention. "We're on it," the devs declared. But alas, even today, on 06/14/23, the matchmaking beast still roams untamed.

And then, oh the audacity! We've been begging the great overlords at rEAspawn for cross-compatibility since time immemorial. And each time, we're fed the same old stale bread - "it's coming." Two winters have passed, and we're still huddled in the cold.

Now, now, don't paint me a complete cynic. The game can be a delightful dance partner, its movement a sultry tango, and the gameplay has found a steady rhythm. It's a jolly romp in the world of FPS, a rage-filled night out with friends. However, as much as I relish the occasional dance, I refuse to back the band. EA, with its voracious hunger, has taken Apex Legends by the collar, wrenching it into an unrecognizable travesty.

So, there you have it, a tale of beauty marred by greed. A game I disdain, yet curiously cannot pull myself away from. Such is the tragedy of my romance with Apex Legends. -Kami

TL;DR Fun game some parts feel a bit empty and the disappointing omission of the drain the lake area even though I have explored every inch of the place and its completely modeled is a true shame I just hope it gets added in a later update and not a DLC, it strays a bit too much from what made the previous game so iconic but a great play, great game to just pick up for a few hours and do side quests solid 8.5/10.

(SPOILER FREE)
The undead lovechild of Mirrors Edge, and... honestly I have no comparison sure it's a zombie game but it's so different from all the others that I really can't compare it to anything else I have played, First of all the story was fun, unfortunately the choices don't dramatically change anything and in my opinion there was never any real tension, twists, or drama, parts of the story seemed off like things would change too quickly as if time wasn't consistent but overall I didn't expect anything life changing I did enjoy the story.

The combat is where it's at It feels so smooth and satisfying, from the sound design to the subtle details like the weapon sticking to enemies a bit longer than normal heavy hits or crits make combat super satisfying and when you unlock all the goodies, like grabbing people and redirecting them off a roof or into someone else, catapulting off someone's head and ground slamming them on the way down, or leading a glide into a dropkick, everything feels on point and flows together in a beautiful gory orchestra of death ranged weapons are a bit difficult for me to recommend as I'm more of a hands on person but in the right circumstances (mostly stealth) the ranged weapons feel punchy and accurate I never had a moment where I blamed the game for a missed shot or wonky hitbox.

The movement, honestly I would play this game just to free run around Villedor; It's that good. From the start I put all my inhibitors into stamina and grinded parkour and it was well worth it as soon as I discovered performance enhancing drugs the world was my oyster, whether you are flying around with your glider, swinging through the city with the grappling hook or just rooftop running the movement in this game is top notch and as a movement connoisseur I can say without a doubt this has the best movement of any AAA in recent years that I have played.

Unfortunately, I do have a few Issues, my main 3 being the cut content at launch; namely the entire drain the lake sequence being nowhere to be seen despite that the flooded buildings are completely modeled I don't know if they just ran out of time or what but I was really looking forward to that, and secondly, the issues with multiplayer and disconnecting from steam, and finally the SEVERE overestimation of how much there is to actually do in this game I'm only 60 hrs in and I've completed the entire main game side quests and all. I took out all the GRE-Anomalies, got all the metro stations, inhibitors, collectable notes, windmills, and several other things I can't remember right now, and it's not like I rushed either.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the game and am likely going to replay on hard or wait for someone to release an extreme difficulty mod. I do look forward to the future updates and new areas.

But mostly Thank you devs for working through this pandemic and releasing a finished product on launch with all these AAA games releasing in early access or just plain not done It's nice to play a well polished product for once sure there is room for improvement and things that were in the trailer are missing but the core gameplay and story is unaffected, so thank you for everything, and thank YOU, yes YOU the person reading this I'm not very well spoken so this was probably pretty hard to read, so thanks for reading the whole thing! Stay safe and enjoy the game!

Well where do I start... This game is fantastic literally anyone can play and run this game as it is free on the surface it appears to be another generic unity FPS game, but its much more than that I believe when this game gets workshop support its going to take off.

In terms of game mechanics is pretty great mildly physics are janky and that's kinda the point but when it pulls you in random directions when using the ODM gear it gets annoying pretty quick on the topic of the ODM gear that too is wildly inconsistent, sometimes I feel like a god grappling around getting sick quick scopes other times it literally doesn't work weapons feel pretty good I love the sniper even though the scope is off center the AK-47 is great good time to kill pretty reliable and not too much bloom now the shotgun is GARBAGE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ its broken stupid range massive damage and its full auto aside from the shotgun the weapons are pretty on point

The final thing i want to mention is speed and movement as an og pathy & octane main veteran titanfall-1&2 player soilder & demoknight main in tf2 and an quake nut i love this game the speed is ludicrous not a lot of games have the balls to let you move this fast and it works, this game as you play as a bean there's no random crits no crits at all actually no headshots your just a bean with a gun wall jumping is my favorite unofficial movement tech move into a wall with a reasonable amount of speed and you can jump off it its everything i ever wanted and then some i look forward to seeing where this game goes in the future!
