Early Access Review
Wow. Yes. As a lover of the Sims franchise, EA definitely has a fair bit to worry about from this. It may still be early access, but what's here is already incredibly promising. Good on you guys for making a very modern-feeling life simulator the likes of the Sims.

And thank god for an open world! I've missed that ever since the Sims 4 removed it. There are also actual human languages in the game too, like Korean, Japanese, English, and Chinese names listed on the subway station. And you're able to drive? Wild.

Very excited to see what happens with this game.

Yes, I recommend it, but primarily if you've played the looter shooter genre before, because starting new at this point is quite an undertaking. Understand it has many flaws and frustration points, a lot of which won't be fixed for a very long time, if ever. Never enough vault space for the encyclopediac number of weapons and exotics to get to know, and the state of PVP is pretty toxic. Play PVE in small-to-medium size close-knit groups or a nice clan for the best experience imo.

One paw does not qualify as a cat, 1/4 of a yarnball does not qualify as a yarnball. Nice music, lots of content, beautiful drawings in some of these (especially the third one), but the tiny slivers of cat or yarn are not doing it for me. Since there's no in-between, I'm going with a no for this one.

The coziest map drawing by far in the hidden cat games I've tried. Lovely 🍁

Hitboxes are more annoying on this one compared to the other 100 Cats games, but still cute. :)

This is an incredible productivity booster by keeping you grounded with a relaxing atmosphere, enough customization to immerse yourself as your character, and really solid white noise choices. Cute, useful, recommended, and nice devs.

If you haven't ever played the game before, don't start now. Respect your time, because these developers absolutely won't.

I like the others in the series! But this one is the worst of the bunch. A vague cylindrical shape gets treated as a valid cat because it's supposed to be a tail. Really squiggly body parts are apparently also supposed to be cats. Like 20 of them are this way. Still a nice chill game series, but I recommend the others over this one.

(Note: I've played for hundreds of hours more on their separate client before switching to having it on Steam)

This is one of the most underwhelming games I've ever played. I define that here in terms of amount of time played vs. the percentage of that time that I actually enjoyed myself.

I'll give it this: The game has an interesting way of moving around. That's it. Character mobility. Everything else in the game is very mediocre, and that's especially so for its design and gameplay loop. Whether it's the way over-the-top daily grind, the incredibly late implementation of very basic quality of life improvements like dimension levels (akin to world levels in Genshin) - which are needed so you don't get punished for exploring and leveling when you don't also incessantly do that daily grind to constantly upgrade all your gear - or the constant need to guild and server merge because of falling player numbers, just about everything about playing ToF fell short of being well done or entertaining.

The story starts by having a chance at maturity, then fumbles that early on, and beyond its one interesting character (Shirli), it offers nothing further of substance. From an RPG lover, it is incredibly bland. In addition, it has one of the worst English language localizations I've ever seen - it is downright eye-rolling. The simulacra companions send you messages if you give them enough gifts, and the conversations they have with you are so incredibly illogical and nonsensical to follow that one really wonders whether anyone actually checked the translation before release to make sure it made sense.

With this game, at some point I realized I was logging in just out of...I don't know, habit? It just wasn't fun. Not just anymore, but pretty much ever, except for a short time near the beginning of trying it. I realized with all this that it was time for an uninstall. Perhaps even just one person can learn from my mistake with this one. I don't just mean ToF, but any game: if you're not enjoying a game anymore, just stop playing it. Games are supposed to be fun, and time is too valuable a resource to spend it on things that don't actually connect with you.
