What a fantastically charming game. I really enjoyed my time with Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog and now I have to sit here and wait for more. Because, dear devs, there must be more. Please, I don't want to just sit on that ending forever!

The story has a slower start and after things started happening I really missed that day-to-day vibe. My 9 hours was for 2 total playthroughs and a single reloaded choice because it upset peak babygirl Cassie so I went back on what was quite a stunning performance. To which, this is definitely a 2 playthrough kind of game, keep that in mind.

If you like the look of the vibes, this is a 100% recommendation from me. And keep an eye on this team, I foresee some good things coming from them.

First blind playthrough: 60hrs

I preface this with the fact that I've played the other Dragon Age games, the Mass Effect ones too. The TL;DR here is that if you liked Mass Effect 2, you'll be okay with this game. Its clumsy in places, but there is a lot of heart here.

Does it bother me that my choices from the prior games are ignored by the game? Yeah, it sure does, but those choices still matters. I still made them. They happened, even if this game doesn't show them. Such is legacy sometimes, there is a lot to record and remember, so many variables. I think they cut too much of the fat, but it's not the first time this series has done this, and anyone who denies it are kidding themselves. Remember when a Dalish warden sacrificed herself and so the clans got the hinterlands as their own? No? Neither do the games, don't worry.

The game-play is pretty fun, I played on a custom setting to up the enemy damage but keep their HP manageable. I was a Mage, went with the spellblade and found that I could punch above my weight if I was careful. I will ashamedly admit it took me more hours than I'd like to realize that my allies didn't have HP and their support spells were to save my ass when I decide to go punch the level 40 superboss at level 29. (I eventually won, by the way.)

I enjoyed the companions, although I recognize this is a very subjective statement. The companions remind me a lot of my dungeons and dragons games, of the people I play with and the characters they bring to the table. I enjoy the mundane and almost domestic moments of getting to talk, I like the interesting dynamics that play out between them every time I head back to the lighthouse. I know it's not for everyone, but it was good for me.

If you got this far, I'm glad some of my words resonated. For good or ill. This game made a lot of mistakes, but there is a lot of love stitched into every seam. There is a passion here, to tell a story, to finish one chapter and move onto the next. The team had a heavy weight to bear, 15 years of expectation, 10 of anticipation and a name so big it could make or break them... But, as an old dwarf once said, stories are about change.
Dragon Age has changed and I think that's okay.

The only safety issue here is that Sony is notoriously bad at keeping data safe, I am not giving Sony my government ID just to play a game on Steam (This is a requirement to make an account in my country). Not only that but PSN isn't available in every country so this requirement will prevent legitimate paying users from accessing the content they paid for.

Edit: Sony backed off, changing my review to reflect this. The game is good.

Void Stranger is not a game for everyone.

Every so often a game comes along that plays by different rules and folks flock to make the obvious comparisons, "It's like Undertale" or "It's the Dark Souls of XXXX". Void Stranger is one of those games, something subversive and challenging in a way that I've not seen in a while, it takes one of the fundamental rules of Sokoban/block puzzles and throws it away.
There is no undo button.

Every movement, every tile lifted, then replaced and every mistake is permanent. That is until you die, the room resets and your life counter begins to decay. Or perhaps, this is the one. The one where you fall and must decide... Take what is offered and continue? or, brave the trials from the beginning armed with new knowledge to push deeper without giving up anything more.
The game wants you to succeed.

Starting again from B001 feels disheartening, progress lost to a few too many mistakes. But while your game progress is gone, the player's progress is not. The puzzles have been conquered once before, and it can be done again. And there are secrets, shortcuts, aplenty to those who wish to devour what the Void's depths have to offer.
It's okay to take breaks. Take a breath, and come back to it.

Personally; Void Stranger is one of those annoying games to talk about. The journey of discovery within the game is something I don't wish to spoil others on, but I can offer some advice. Take screenshots, make notes and ask for help if you need it. Your descent into the Void is your own journey, but we're all still connected, we're all in this together.
I can hear you... Can you hear me?

Void Stranger is not a game for everyone and I adored every moment I shared with it.

What an absolutely charming Monster Taming RPG. Ticks all the boxes. Took 20hrs to finish the 'main' story, still have all the side stuff to do so plenty to do.
I adore how surprisingly deep the battle system is, with all the buffs/debuffs and even type changing you can inflict on enemies or yourself.
Southpaw MvP
Can't wait to see what more comes from this game and the devs.

a little clunky in places before you get down the feel of the dodge/dash and light auto aim on weapons but a fun gay little game once you get past that. The monster AI feels a little lacking in places but still fun to use. Really like the fact I can forge desired augments onto items and that I can turn on or off different aspects of the rogue-lite elements.

Do you like dungeons and dragons?
Do you like games with a silly little premise that will keep you entertained for a few hours?
infinite replayability? (well, almost)

Alluris is a fun little romp across the land as you fling boulders at highwaymen, get chased down by spiders, marry rat queens to spawn a new race and all sorts of other things as you prepare yourself to face Baron Dread.

Swipe left, or swipe right; destiny is only a card away.
