Early Access Review
Addictive and interesting blend of business sim and first person task completion/dificulty juggling. AI hirelings are an essential part of being able to grow your business and scale to a more management focused portion of gameplay but current implementation is weak at best. In the current state of the game it's not really possible to scale past the point where you can manage all of your store's own inventory individually because of how bugged this is. This means you can enjoy the first six or so hours of gameplay but not really progress further.

What there is to play is however incredibly fun, dynamic, and engaging. The first person nature escalates it above a simple spreadsheet based business sim and creates an interesting amount of personal narrative.

In the current form of the game AI cashiers are very slow, which is fine because its clear theyre more for lightening the load of managing your checkout area than they are intended to replace you entirely in that role. The problem comes with the AI stockists who bug out so frequently and so often doing simple things like refilling a shelf that they might as well not exist. Fixing them requires reloading or sometimes clearing the entire shelf yourself all at the risk of items simply disappearing from existence.

This is quite simply one of the most fun competitive team games I've ever played. Very simple to learn, easy to understand, hard to master. Individual skillis rewarded but team synergy and coordination is equally as valuable. It's WOW Arena for people who dont want to have to remember 40 different options, it's a fighting game for people who find the learning curve too high.

THIS CONSOLE PORT DOES NOT WORK IN FULL SCREEN WITHOUT A SECOND PARTY FAN-CREATED MOD. For anyone interested in buying Nier or anyone thinking about choosing the PC version over the PS4 this is an unavoidable truth that should be made very clear. I've been waiting to buy this game since launch, got it on the 35% deal and immediately realized that fullscreen mode looks like the vsync is messed up, it's like looking at a 3d movie without the glasses on.

I've yet to try the much touted FAR mod but the entire idea of installing second party software licensed neither by valve nor my square just to run the game defeats the entire purpose of purchasing a game on steam in the first place. There's also more than a few mentions that the FAR mod checks your api to harass pirates but honestly isn't the definition of malware a program with an unadvertised, undocumented, and unwanted function?

Remember when you're buying this on sale to get the "complete season" pack, the first entry that show's up for like $5 is JUST episode 1. Don't be me and think you bought the game on sale just to realize you only bought ep 1.
