To quote someone's review of Return of the Obra Dinn on another platform, "there's nothing quite as amazing as playing a game that is like nothing you've ever played before"; even if, in my case, I wasn't wholly captured by it.

A hidden gem and one of the best experiences I have had playing a videogame ever. Let me give you a list of a few amazing things this game has to offer:
  • The game is overflowing with love and care, it is obvious that the devs put everything into crafting this masterpiece.
  • The story unfolds in a very very nice way, and there actually two stories (mind you, this is an isekai): the game's story per se, and the MMO's story.
  • Lea, the main character, is so beautifully designed, and it makes the strongest case I have ever seen for the inclusion of a "silent" protagonist in videogames. While she cannot speak, she definitely is not a passive agent in the story, you'll have to check that out for yourself ;)
  • The characters in general are greatly crafted, with nice dialogues and personalities and very nice inclusions in the story.
  • The game looks so good, and the character's art sprites are incredible. One just can't get enough of Lea's expressions.
  • The level design comes off as very clever and intricate alike, both in the overworld and in the dungeons. Plus, the puzzles very rarely feel too difficult, and the game does an amazing job at subtly teaching you how to solve them.
  • The final boss battle HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
  • CrossCode also has a vast offering of quality of life elements that make you wonder why barely any other games have them, when they come off as obvious once you experience them here.
  • It actually has a playable demo!
  • The game features a Pippi Långstrump reference!
  • Hi. Lea!
I am very grateful to have been able to experience CrossCode, and I hope you get to experience it someday as well.

A very strange game and sequel to the already strange Hylics, this game ultimately feels like a more than enjoyable continuation that triumphs in certains aspects where the first game failed. The only gripes I have with this game is that it may be a bit overwhelming at the start even for people (myself included) who played the first game before, and the difficulty seems to lower as the game goes on too, although the difficulty of the combats isn't the most important element here at all.

This kind of feels like the video game version of The Silver Globe insofar as storytelling goes, with incredible graphics and humor and a very fitting Thinking Fellers Union Local 282-esque soundtrack.

About 42 hours into the game so far, I have loved almost every second of my gameplay, and to my pleasant surprise this is becoming one of the games I have ever enjoyed playing the most; I can't recommend it enough, even to people that is wary of the game's premise like I was.

However, I feel obliged to give a fair warning about the game's length: if you go off the main quests path and take on extra quests, which is something that the game encourages you to do and greatly enriches its experience, your gameplay time will likely be way longer than expected. I like to complete sidequests in most games I play and Death Stranding one is no exception, but I never aim for 100% completion either. This being said, with my gameplay time clocking in at 42 hours right now, I am pretty sure I am just around the half of the main story, so I probably have another 40 or so hours ahead of me. I am sure I will enjoy them nonetheless, but please do keep this in mind if you plan on playing the game.

I will update this review whenever I finish the game if I remember to do so, thank you very much for reading my review so far.

I've tried playing Papers Please a few times but I never quite got into that game, which always weirded me out since this Lucas Pope game is seen as an outstanding achievement in gamemaking. Return of the Obra Dinn, on the other hand, sucked me in its little mesmerizing world from the get go, and more than a year after having played it, I still hold it as one of my favorite games of all time. The visuals are stunning, the music couldn't be more fitting, the plot is interesting and very fitting to the gameplay too, which is the most innovating detective-esque gameplay I have ever experienced. Chef's kiss, don't think it twice before buying this.

Early Access Review
The auto-chess genre boring (the games are too long), too RNG based and you can't even control your creatures when the fighting happens.

Quite possibly the best Rogue-Like game I've ever played. Just get this game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Side note: mandatory to buy the DLCs imo, because if you do it after you buy the base game, you'll have progress problems. Also expect to play a damn lot of time this game.
