I introduced a few friends to it and now they're addicted.

It's so realistic that you'll suffer from PTSD after playing it for just a few minutes.

Yeah, it's not supposed to be an arcade shooter like the multiplayer, but it's not even a good tac-shooter either. It feels like they were aiming somewhere in-between, and in the process succeeded at nothing.

I suggest playing the original, but this is a great modern interpretation. It's not too far off from what I'd imagine Half-Life would be like if it was released today, minus some minor hiccups that are drowned out by the rest of the game.

Looking back, the writing is definitely better than the writing for most modern stories, but the dialogue is only marginally better. Still, I definitely have more fond memories of the actual gameplay on this version because it's less of a grind than the original, thanks to the game speed feature.

Plus, if you own a Steam Deck, it's great while traveling.

Average UE5 game performance, looks no better than Overwatch 2. I hate Blizzard as much as the next guy, but I'm also just not really interested in playing Yet Another Hero Shooter 3, the next game in the generic Hero Shooter Hexalogy.

It's not the Battlefield alternative that we were hoping for. There really isn't much more to say. Performance is subpar, it still uses the specialist system that we all despise (which BF6 is apparently doing away with, nonetheless), and can we talk about the god awful menu UI? At face value, it's essentially 2042 but better. Barely.

But hey, snipers feel better than 2042's IMO. They still aren't on the same tier as Battlefield 1 and Battlefield V's.

Yet another silly goofy, absolutely chaotic game to play with friends.

The game was decently fun with who I played it with. I like the open world concept, but I can't recommend it in good faith. You're better off playing the original game. Although, the updates look fairly promising, it's a tough sell and no guarantee that they'll earn their audience back any time soon.

Even if you enjoyed the game even slightly like I did, try comparing it directly to another one of Torn Banner's games like Chivalry 2. It's night and day.
