3.5/5

Solid game, webbing swinging is cathartic and flying around a very good looking New York is fun with a lot to do but the story is so so, predictable and the combat is abysmal, reminiscent of a PS2 game and can vary from infuriatingly drawn out at the start of the game to ridiculously easy once a few upgrades have been unlocked.

Overall it’s a poor man’s Arkham game but you’ll find fun wasting time swinging around the city.

EDIT:

After finishing the game and all of the achievements combat still remains sloppy and unrefined even compared to Arkham Asylum and City, both of which are older than this games original release on the PS4. Some gadgets are overpowered and some you never use as they're too weak. It basically becomes webbing up enemies and throwing them off a roof when you unlock the abilities and gadgets to do so foran entire wave. The stealth mechanics are pointless as when you finish Wave 1 wave 2 comes out pre alerted so what's the point? it's also not very varied and you have to learn ways around it not working reliably.

Ran into numerous glitches that caused a reset of the mission from clipping into walls and buildings.

New game plus resets all collectables and secret photo locations which aren't fun to collect the first time round.

Overall still a solid game, story is good no great but performance even without RTX on is abysmal considering the game is near 10 years old and the visually more impressive Arkham Knight runs better. Dips well under 60 with a 3060Ti pegged at 99% at 1440p with DLSS on should not happen. Would be worth buying on sale, nowhere near worth full price. Happy I gt the game for free with my GPU rather than spending money on the game.

Having completed all of the achievements I have uninstalled the game and will not be reinstalling it to replay unlike other games of the genre which are worth replaying and are permanently installed on my drive.

TLDR:

Web swinging is great
Story is good but predictable
Combat is sub par
Performance is bad
Collectables are repetitive especially on New game Plus mode where they should just carry over
Everything else is middle of the road

Worth buying for the Zombies. Great fun even after 299 Hours plus all the time I put into BO2 on the Xbox 360.

Extremely weak villians and writing, brought to the fore when I dipped into the DLC featuring Jack and even though he's not even present he is so much better in a advert/cutscene than the twins are in the main game. Wish we could have had more of Jack. Gameplay is excellent but just feels padded out, some character redesigns are iffy and did Moxxi always have that Much jiggle? Could really do with a new class or even an old one given back.

Would put this over the pre sequel, maybe about par with 1 as I preferred the classes in 1 vs this one and they're all miles behind 2. I would rather pay full retail for 2 + All DLC vs this on sale.

Finally Frick Epic

Played this after trying DMC the reboot and overall great, didn't need to play I-VI to get the story however coming from DMC the combat isn't nearly as good until you get into the last 25% of the story when you start to unlock more stuff. Great, fun game, just think I prefer the previous one I played.

Short, finished the main story in 7 hours, but incredibly fun. Haven't played any DMC games prior and enjoyued all of it, bought DMC V now. If you can get it on sale the combat is more than worth the money.

Best arkham game by a hair over city, best 3rd person game on steam and arguably the best overall. Great story, arkham knight is a little obvious but overall a near perfect game. Batmobile just has 1/2 too many boss fights.

Also maxed out this game is unbelievably pretty and runs at a solid 60 on an rx480. It looks better than any game out as of now.

Ignore playtime I've 100%'d the game on nightmare mode on Xbone, bought this a second time for PC with the rest of the arkham games to 100% again
