A beautiful game about dealing with traumatic events and dealing with negative emotions.

Overall they took the core ideas from the first game and refined a lot of it.
Figments are still a bit of an issue in some levels like in the first game but thankfully they toned down the number of moving figments to near zero.

Worth playing if you enjoyed the first game, the VR title adds to the story but it could be watched on YouTube for the story if you don't have a VR headset.

Early Access Review
So right off the bat it's worth noting that in this game you don't control the movement of your avatar, it says it in the game summary but I didn't read that. I had been following this games development through Reddit and bought it just from the videos I had seen of it.

The gameplay is a little bit like an idle game but it really shines when it comes to the crafting system. Throughout your adventures you will find swords, shields, runes, crossbows, and more; it's then up to the player to then find the best way to use these tools to craft better weapons and tools to get through the cruel world they find themselves in.

Graphics wise this is probably one of the most unique games I've seen in a long time given that it's art is made through ASCII characters. It's got a certain charm to it and through it's art and animation alone is what sold me on this game.

Sound design is really on point, one of the enemies you'll face in game is a bat, it might sound a little silly to say but, I was kinda blown away in it's sound design while the bat was flapping of its wings its sound matched with the animation.

In short I'd say this game is very much worth picking up if you are into crafting tables and slight idle adventures.

In a world where Metroidvania's are forgotten Axiom Verge takes the torch and runs as far as it can with it.

If you are a fan of 2D Metroid games this is a great fill for the empty place Samus has left for some time. That's not to say it's not without a few moments of "where am I going/doing?" that's a given for any game in this style but once you find that wall you could teleport through you'd been overlooking, boom, the game continues to amaze you with its level design and choice of weapons.
I’d solidly place this game as one of the best Indie games I’ve played in the past few years. It’s also great because it’s on a variety of platforms, while being on steam I feel I have to suggest it here, it also is on a variety of other systems.

What's to say about this game that hasn't already been said about this game?
I absolutely love it, there are many different ways you can play the game. Hunting for the story, letting the story take backseat, roleplaying (if you’re into that kind of thing), killing everyone you meet, meeting everyone and forming a sort of “family” at the hub area, so much more.

What is nice about the world of dark souls is age, sex, physique, none of it matters. All that matters is how you place your states and deciding how you want to play. You could be a knight, decide you want to be a ranger and just start to change. You are never locked into one style of play. I started as a knight that used brute force to get through all situations, but I slowly picked up ranged attacks through pyromancy and archery.

That isn’t to say Dark Souls isn’t without its flaws, everyone I know that plays it well admits that its fairly clunky at times. However, you learn to work with these curbs in mind. For instance, Dark Souls doesn’t want you to spam buttons. Say you hit the attack button three times, but decide after two you really wanted to roll away. The system logs the commands in order: attack, attack, attack, roll. You’ll more than likely get hit and maybe die. This can be upsetting at first but it’s the game telling you to take your time, make sure the actions you want to do are what you really want to do. You can’t just spam actions.

Overall, I’d say Dark Souls 1 has got to be my favorite game of all time. It has its flaws sure, but it also has an impressive world to show you and so much deep and rich lore hidden beneath the surface. I’d rate it a solid 9/10

A great follow up to The Binding of Isaac. New enemies, new room designs, new music. This is a great step up from the original.

The game that set the bar and started a trend. While Wolfenstein came first it is in the shadows compaired to DOOM. Worth every dollar for the DOOM series, and if 2.5D is not your style and you think DOOM is too old, I suggest getting the third party mod Doomsday Engine to import 3D models and Higher res textures.
