Stayed up one night and played through the whole game (besides the time trials) in one sitting. I resorted to using a guide two times so take that into consideration for this review.
Pros:
- Generally great physics with intuitive controls
- Usually smooth gameplay and individual room design
- Artistic design choices are absolutely on point with the PS1-style era graphical fidelity with some quality of life tweaks to make it just a little extra.
- The game pushed me to learn and develop skills with 3D platformers like never before, by the end I was doing jumps I didn't even know were possible at first.
- This game was clearly competently developed with a lot of passion and it's reflected in the gameplay.
Cons:
- Worlds (not as much individual rooms) had a tendency to be confusing and overall fairly empty. Getting lost or going to the wrong area is heavily punishing wasting time which is a deadly combination with the lack of a clear direction to progression (not saying the game should hold your hand but I feel at least some direction would go a long way, giving players the option to follow it or not).
- There are some serious quality of life options which are missing from the game. I understand not being able to immediately teleport anywhere but this games has the opposite problem where if you want to go anywhere or have to do any back tracking because you're lost you're going to have to painstakingly manually do all of it. Things even original platformers had solutions to. Also you can't see yourself as an icon on the map which I just think would make the game more intuitive without cheapening the experience.

Pros:
- Amazing Graphics, can't really say much more than that the 60fps full HD textures are beautiful, the lighting it stellar, the designs are impressive, and the music is dope
- Improved Physics, Spyro has a heavy weighted feel to him that the originals lacked
- Better Camera, much easier to handle than the originals
Cons:
- Censored guns in Twilight Harbor. I understand why entirely with the demographic breakdown but it's still lame
- The snowboarding level from "Super Bonus Round" is pretty broken, the hitboxes are messed up on a lot of the slopes resulting in a frustratingly tedious experience
- Controls still sometimes lack responsiveness

Early Access Review
If you're in the market for a classic roguelike dungeon crawler adventure game, I would highly recommend this.
Great to play if you're burned out on Enter the Gungeon, the Binding of Isaac, or other similar titles but want to continue with a game of similar caliber. Containing a charmingly simplistic, yet refined gameplay Undermine provides a Zelda 1 style of adventure without the mechanical clunkiness the camera perspective normally causes. The progression feels very natural, and isn't too grindy nor too easy in my opinion.

After an initial playthrough I've decided that yes, I recommend this game with several important caveats.

1. This game if it wasn't obvious bears much similarity to Terraria, sometimes to a fault. Despite this, in some ways Starbound is much better and in other ways much worse. There are certain Quality of Life improvements in Starbound (ie all of the movement tech, vehicles, mechs, dual-wielding, etc.) but also surprisingly a couple downgrades (no minimap as far as I can tell, no easy way to teleport to the surface, and the "medium" difficulty makes you drop items on death which is annoying.). If you enjoyed Terraria you will most likely enjoy this, however to what extent may vary depending on what aspects of Terraria you enjoyed.

2. Expect to put in a lot of effort for goals in this game. If you're looking for instant gratification, this is not for you. I'm still fairly early in so I'm not sure if things will speed up in terms of pacing but, much like Terraria once again, the beginning is very slow. Despite being overall slow I will say it can be addicting at times to continue, and succeeding on a mission after a lot of effort was put in is pretty awesome.

3. There are quite a few mechanics which are unintuitive and lack a tutorial (unless I'm an idiot and I just missed it). Be prepared to oftentimes find yourself with a very vague goal or task, which I can understand the appeal to, however sometimes it is downright frustrating. The grind is less overall and there are branching paths to gain experience/equipment but the moment you can't find something you need or are confused by an objective you're sort of screwed and it's going to take a while to figure things out.

Overall a good experience but was rough around some edges.

Pros:
Stellar gameplay
Beautiful art and UI
Smooth transitions and addictive level design

Cons:
Convoluted Story
Disappointing Ending (In my Opinion)
Sometimes frustrating mechanics, for example dogs

Would still recommend but be aware it's more for the gameplay than narrative.

Wow this is truly an awesome DLC.

I don't usually buy DLC but this one is definitely worth it, as it adds a massive amount of new content to the game and is relatively inexpensive.

Pros:
*Absolutely Stunning In-game Art
*Epic Music (Especially the sailing one)
*A ton of new features

Cons:
*Was broken when first released
*Is in early access, so there will be bugs...
