Honestly a pleasant surprise. I didn't know what to expect but it's been pretty awesome so far.

So it's my first Monster Hunter and its awesome. I don't feel like it very new player friendly though. Not a ton is explained and I find myself getting blindsided from time to time. Quick example is there's a fight where you have to separate monsters in a group. The game indicates to use a certain type of shot. However if your inventory is full it doesn't seem possible interchange items between your mount pouch and your inventory. So you have to discard something then move the item all while trying to avoid dieing to the monsters. Not a super big deal but it kind of feels like the game expected you to know you'd need the item in advance.

Idk reading the other reviews it makes me feel like the games bugged for me. I cant get any of the mechanics to work. It doesn't feel like a Butokai game at all. I feel like I'm missing something cause I honestly thought with my game-play experience I'd see mostly negative reviews. I'm usually pretty sweaty and try things on max difficult but on default settings I couldn't get through the first boss in Goku's story. Tried the training mode but the input delay feels so extreme I cant get anything to work. Probably going to refund. Really disappointed.

Still works and plays great. I've replayed it recently with little to no issues. One of my favorites.

The game is just weird. A lot isn't explained, for example; you're capped at 5 purple ammo between missions. So you might have the idea to go and find some before a boss fight, this would be a waste of time, however if you go in solo you'll start with 10. This isn't explained anywhere so you kinda just have to waste your time finding out. Also the drop rates seem to be just made up; I ran an instance 20 times for a 20 percent drop, nothing. Now it could just be bad luck, I've played a lot of mmo's that wouldn't be unfamiliar. When I looked online it seems like many people were having the same issue. I think there might be a lock out cause after the 4-6th try or so i started to get the same drop every time, but again, this isn't explained anywhere. How long is the lock out, daily? Weekly? Is there even one? The game-play is good I'm going to keep playing just the lack of information is frustrating at times.

Right now don't play. Don't give the game money or play time. Just cheaters, and if your in a game with a cheater there's no way to leave without -1000 ELO. I love this game but it's in a real sad state.

EDIT: When I solo-qeue or qeue with people that play regularly, I VERY rarely run into cheaters. However, when I play with friends who maybe take long breaks or are new to the game, it's a completely different experience. Weird ping lobbys and cheaters become expected. Idk my original review still stands but I feel like the change was worth noting.

I like the game, T7 hooked me and I'm here to stay, but it's hard to recommend. There is a lot of bull and if your coming from T7 the game plays 10x faster and more aggressive. The argument people make to "learn the match-up" is going to be very unreasonable for a casual player. It's honestly embarrassing how frustrated this game has made me but I've talked to other people and I'm apparently not alone there. It is however very rewarding climbing the ranks and achieving small victories in match-ups you've struggled with. If you want to dive deep into something with near endless complexity this might be the game for you.

The combats just bad. Idk storys fine I played quite a bit but because the main baddies don't block just and are sometimes immune to knock back it makes attacks that should be powerful just feel meh. For example; when raccon can just walk through a kamehameha it doesnt really make me feel like im playing as the same goku in the story. Or how in the game, when u power, up the noise cue's make it feel like ur hitting with force but most of the npcs just tank it no problem and just hit u back. Yeah the damage shows higher numbers and the noises get louder but visually ur just shinier. If u actually had to use ur abilities to pressure the npcs a bit it wouldn't be so bad but because they're just immune or can become immune at anime time most of the time it just feels like ur going through the motions. "oh hes immune now ill get out of range and use ki blasts. oh he flinched ill go in and beat him up" You as the players actions dont matter they dont have any impact all the fights so far have just been step 1 step 2 back to the story. I've played probably 4-6 hrs total at this point (its hard to be accurate I've left the game on to run out at one point) and I've enjoyed it but at this point i find myself playing with hopes of the game getting better and no longer enjoying the content in the moment. I'll probably keep playing for a bit just to get through freeza the first real big baddie but If i was making the choice to buy again I wouldn't. I'd honestly find ur ps2 pop in an old budokai game and enjoy that the graphics honestly haven't changed much.

Best fighter 10/10 great updates all along rough start on the ps4 but end result prefect
