Played this one fresh after playing through 4 again. This game overall was an improvement on the series and I hope they can find additional stories to tell in the future. As for the unique differences compared to the previous, here's what I've noticed:
- Virtually no more grenade kills? Idk if they removed them or the chance of hitting one but I still haven't been able to snipe a grenade on somebody, which I did frequently (maybe too so) in 4
- Vehicle combat is very different now. This actually is one of my few real complaints with the game; they went from a system of being able to snipe out gunners and snipers to "blow up the back and then shoot the engine a bunch." At first I was actually wasting resources because I didn't realize once the engine is exposed you just have to shoot it repeatedly until *kaboom*.
- Much more linear maps overall, compared to Italy you're generally more restricted in this game. More walls you van't vault, more gray areas on your minimap. This coupled with sometimes vague mission instructions left me running back an forth across the several lanes of map to find my objective. (Don't call destroying a radio "neutralizing defenses", it's misleading at best.
- Much better "quiet" options in the loadouts. While we don't have really more options than previous games, they've made suppressors more accessible and subsonic ammo a great option on all guns. I really have a wide range of configurations to decide on how loud I want to be. For 4 I actually purchased a DLC just to get the suppressed pistol in it (only quiet option base game is the Welrod) while in this game basically all pistols can.
- Slow-motion controls are kinda neat if you really wanna get cinematic with your shots. I only wish the slow motion focused more on bullet entry/cavitation and less on after the bullet has passed through, but that's nitpicking.
- I'm too much of a ♥♥♥♥♥ to do Axis invasion, because I hate pvp in most games, but I'll happily join an easy coop. This is something made easy to use and though connections are tenuous at times it can be a fresh change to play a map through with someone.

Overall recommending to anyone who's enjoyed the previous games, any sniper games, or some Nazi-smashing therapy.
