There's something therapeutic about mowing down 2000 giant spiders with flamethrowers/miniguns

It's pretty much necessary after a point to keep playing Elite. It's the only DLC so once you get this you're set. Wait for a sale and get it if you have the base game, or get both (they usually go on sale at the same time) if you never played it but know Elite is your kind of game.

The most common complaint is it gets repetitive after a while, but you should definitely get your money's worth by then either way, if you're into spaceship games. If it's on sale, just get it.

A lot of space games these days try to do everything, and end up spreading themselves too thin. It sounds great when a game tells you that you can be a bounty hunter, trader, miner, smuggler, pirate, do PvE, co-op PvE, PvP and more, but often those games end up with each individual aspect of them feeling boring because none has a lot of work put into it.

Instead of doing that, Everspace focuses on its thing - single player combat - and does it very well. Worth playing if blowing stuff up in space is your thing.
