What looks like a silly monster catching game is actually a drama and mystery game starring dudes who look like muppets. If you can get past the presentation, you'll find a gem underneath. There's also implied cannibalism

$5 for two characters that are mostly asset flips doesn't really feel worth it, especially when they don't have very much impact on the game. They aren't in the hideout or overworld, they just... appear when you unlock character switching. Nowhere else.
I have this because of buying the game + DLC bundle, and as support for Team Reptile.

I waited 20 years for a game like this to release.
If you're a fan of the old Tony Hawk games and/or Jet Set Radio, do not hesitate on buying this. This is exactly what you're looking for.

I went into this game expecting a vaguely "artistic" walking sim, but found the first piece of media to get tears out of me in years. It may take a few hours to complete, but it's painfully relatable, beautiful, and worth your time. The art, dialogue, and music all come together to create an amazing experience, making me immensely uncomfortable, then becoming soothing within minutes of each event.
Some parts could use some trimming, though- In particular, walking speed could be higher in some areas. I'm not a fan of jumpscares, but I feel like the conservative usage of them made the few times they occurred justified.
All in all, I highly recommend this game, and supporting Demensa by buying it or the soundtrack[demensa.bandcamp.com].

The Phantasy Star series is very dear to me. I've been hooked on it ever since I played Phantasy Star Universe on Xbox 360 way back around 2008. Naturally, I have loved Phantasy Star Online 2 ever since I first played on the Japanese servers back in 2013 on a mediocre all-in-one family PC. I loved the sci-fi atmosphere, music, dungeon crawling, weaponry, costumes, and boss fights. This game was with my all throughout my high school years. The story was good, but that's not what I came here for.
The combat is quick and responsive, giving you quite a bit of control over your character as if they're the star of a hack and slash character action game. It essentially boils down to "hit the enemy until it dies, and don't get hit", but it's not as 1-dimensional as it seems. Many actions can be acted out of with other actions, and your attacks become more powerful with correct timing. You can immediately stop attacking to guard, dash to and from enemies, activate skills to buff yourself and/or teammates, or even unleash your Photon Blast, a powerful meter-based skill. The combat alone is what has carried this game for years for me.
The game is F2P, so there is monetization. Thankfully, PSO2's monetization is almost exclusively for quality of life features, such as skipping weapon strengthening or instant shop access. The game is not predatory with its premium currency and you can play just fine without spending a cent. The player market can even be accessed for free if you work towards it.
Since this is an F2P game, there is monetization in the form of gacha for cosmetics. There are many items for almost anyone. Cosplaying is seen frequently due to the variety of options. There are also a LOT of crossover items in the game, ranging from Half Life to BlazBlue to Fate to Nier to Persona to the Irregular at Magic High... and if that ever gets boring, Sonic Team keeps updating the game to keep things interesting with interesting story scenes and quests, seasonal events, and new quests, weapons, and neat clothing for both sexes.

Everything I've just said does not apply to Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis. Until this game has content beyond slow combat, a player shop without hyper-inflated prices, a forced tutorial, and cookie cutter characters, please reconsider installing New Genesis.

Lethal League and its sequel, Lethal League Blaze, are very interesting takes on the fighting game genre, and I ask that you buy if the trailer caught your eye. It works as a competitive game and a party game. The online playerbase isn't as big as it was at launch, but Team Reptile has an official Discord in which you can find players. It also has rollback.
Side note, my life changed as a whole because of the previous game, Lethal League.

This is the highest rated game on Steam, and for good reasons. Great atmosphere, storytelling, voice acting, music, and gameplay. It also goes on sale for $5 or less, so you can buy it multiple times. I recommend Portal 2 to everyone. Even if you watched someone else play it, experiencing it yourself is much different. It's one of those games.
