Very fun for a couch co-op sesh. The moves are very smooth and the game is extremely authentic to the era it pays respect to.

Even without playing any of the other Freebird games, you'll be entertained and swooned and probably cry after playing Impostor Factory.

I will premise that I have a bias towards Tales of __ games in general. I enjoy the combat in each of them and encourage people to play them in order of release (because playing them backwards is unfair to judge the games as they've been improved upon game after game)

I generally trust Tales of __ dub casts as opposed to Final Fantasy etc, where I prefer the JP voice cast. Both casts for Tales of __ series are good and for Arise this is no exception.

I digress - I've been enjoying Tales of Arise a lot. The change in the presentation for skits from animated squares to a comic book style animated in game was pretty refreshing. The characters have been alright so far and it seems like there are canon ships which I feel is a positive. They pretty much have a couple in 3 different age brackets.

The combat is pretty fun - in comparison to berseria it's a little slower-paced and there's less incentive to swap mid-fight or even learn the other characters. My main issue with the combat in Arise is something I'm going to compare the combat kits of Alphen and Velvet. Both MCs have moves that have risk reward systems built in where you damage yourself and do damage. Velvet could lifesteal this health back with Therionization but Alphen cannot do so and you end up not wanting to ever use fire moves with him because 1. They've limited healing in this game with the CP system (cure points) Alphen cannot heal himself and 3. The amount of extra damage you get from burning pretty much your entire health bar is really not that much more than a normal arte. This becomes very evident in fights that are long and drawn out so I've leaned towards sitting back and casting artes with Rinwell - being probably the easiest caster to use in a tales of game for me to date.

The game itself runs very smooth and I have had no instances of crashing or frames dropping in the entire playthrough.
Overall I would I say if you're one of those who wait for the reviews of hardcore fans of the series, this is your green light to purchase and enjoy Tales of Arise

There's a reason players have returned to this game after every update. Great soundtrack, a straightforward path to progression, and tons of activities to accomplish from fishing, crafting, modelling homes, to even flying kites.

Great for solo and even better with friends and family.

Great game that focuses more on the story rather than the rouge-lite aspect. In most cases, you're going to be steamrolling through the entire level if you've spent enough time grinding the passive upgrades.

The narration is great. The art is wonderful, and The game itself is pretty fun. There was effort for all the characters to be fun to play and it shows.

4/5

A beautiful, touching, emotional, and fantastic game about a child and his mother in a hospital during post-Fukushima Nuclear Disaster Japan. It covers a slew of different ailments with each patient they encounter and the problems those patients deal with.

This game is a must buy. 10/10 - would cry again. (:

What's not to like about Spearhead's way of storytelling? They give us bits and pieces of the truth every playthrough until you figure it out and get the true ending. Very similar to their previous game Stories: Path of Destinies. (which I also recommend).

Combat's arkham styled and you can make it harder if you enjoy the combat. If you don't care for the combat there's an easier mode for that as well.

Give this a buy!

I really have mixed thoughts about the presentation of this game:
On the Pros:
>Visually pleasing art style
>Runs smooth
>Has decent voice acting
>Very reminiscent of Darksiders HacknSlack meets Attack on Titan

Cons:
>The way you save civilians is boring and difficult
>The way the story is presented is....minialistic and at times, out of left field
>The ogres one shot you even if you're not even close to where they struck at times
>You have to pay to upgrade your minimap (yes you read this right, you have an unreliable minimap)
>Mini enemies are cool to fight but you waste too much time fighting them as the town gets destroyed
>This is a personal con I have which is that the gameplay is presented mission by mission and I feel like it would have been cooler as a sandbox with the story being told as you fight (without being paused)

Honestly I find Paladins to be the better hero shooter in terms of characters I enjoy playing and gameplay. The aim feels more responsive, my deaths feel less random, and I don't have to walk to a health pack to get some non-support healing. If you've been shy about Paladins, I invite you to give it a shot. It's free anyway.

Fantastic pixel art, great and responsive controls, witty dialogue (though it goes really fast at times), and wonderful world-building lore. This game's a must buy.
