Im a big Tropico fan, yet I still really disliked Tropico 5. In fact, it remains the only steam game to this day that I have refunded. That being said, Tropico 6 is a definite improvement to what Tropico 5 was. They seemed to have learned their lesson from their main mistake in Tropico 5; removing the micro control you had over your island. Instead, they've returned to what I believe is their roots(Tropico 3/4). They build upon this strong foundation with raids, the new trade system, edict/research and multiple islands. Feels like an improvement to Tropico instead of the garbage reimagining that T5 was.

Ive only played a few missions so far but the game itself asks for feedback so here it is:

The Economy definitely feels trickier. You definitely have all the tools you need to analyze where you're money is going but there were a few times where I probably would be doing really well in Tropico 3/4 where I was doing maybe poorly to average in 6. That may be a design decision, hard to say.

Some of the missions have objectives that are confusing unless you have some Tropico XP. For example, one mission wants you to have a communist utopia (have a ton of communists on your island) yet it doesnt give you any hints as to how to do that. Keep in mind this is early in the game where you havent done too much, and even more puzzling it does actually give you hints to other more obscure mechanics of the game. Could use a little revision but im sure this is an easy fix.

Pros (besides what I mentioned above:

Game is pretty looking. Running it at max graphics and it looks great.

Missions are varied so far.

Humor is on point as per usual. Penultimo has a new voice im not crazy about but otherwise all characters are unique.

Overall though, its Tropico, if you like Tropico I think you'll like this game.

(may expand on this review when I beat the game)

If you're a fan of wise cracks and Ace Attorney, this may be the game you've been waiting for.

I'm usually pretty skeptical when it comes to ports because usually they're implemented pretty poorly. I remember playing the Slug games often growing up so I knew I had to at least give those one a try. Happily I can say that i'm pleasantly surprised that this game isnt one of those terrible ports. Multiplayer worked without a hitch, and the controls are implemented well ( although ive only tried using an xbox controller). The ability to change the difficulty is definitely a plus and I can see it increasing the replayability of this game. Overall 8.5 out of ten.
