Great game, funny concept. I personally prefer playing in the open world mode and wish there was some way to fast travel in order to create multiple bases across the map without having to walk for hours but all in all a great game and the Devs are still pushing out updates on a weekly basis. :)

This is a great game to play with friends especially if you buy it on sale. I dont get the bad reviews, I much rather play something like this than some of the pay2win bug infested AAA games that only come out nowadays,

Its a decent game, a lot of shooting and a lot of dodging. Story is mediocre at best but fits with the gameplay. Game starts to get repetitive quite quickly but its worth it if buying it during a sale.

First of all I wanna say that I was a big fan of Dying Light 1 and the best part of Dying Light 1 is still the best part of Dying Light 2, that being the Gameplay. The only improvement over Dying Light 1 is the Graphics, they look really good.
Asides from the Gameplay and the Graphics though everything else is just horrible.

(Spoilers blacked out):

Let's start with the Story
The only trait you ever get to know about the Main Character Aiden is that he searches his Sister Mia, there is no reason or explanation in why he acts how he does and why you should make certain choices, that wouldn't be such a bad thing in itself but no matter how many people you have to kill and what happens during the progression of the story, there is never any further development in his character, the only thing you know about him is that he searches his sister. SPOILER 5 Minutes before the game ends you even find out that Mia wasn't even his sister and Aiden just made that up for some reason

All of the Story Characters are written absolutely terrible. There's Lawan, a Girl that saves you over and over and cares about you and Aiden seems to care for her only to SPOILER Friendzone him 5 Minutes before the end of the game where you have to choose if you want to save her or the city. I mean why would you ever choose to save her when she friendzoned you 5 Minutes prior, at least make her confess her love to Aiden so you are torn about who you should save: the city or her.
The Main Antagonist Waltz is even more flawed. There is never an explanation why he does the terrible things he's doing to everyone. He can turn into a powerful Zombie similar to a Volatile but it is never explained how he can actually do those things or why he would have to do them. He always wants the GRE Key but it is never specified why he would need it, whilst Aiden would need it to stop a missile attack on the city which is also not clear why that attack would happen in the first place. You even find out that Mia is actually the daughter of Waltz and he was always just trying to cure her which makes him seem like a good guy but then you never get a choice to try and help Waltz, the game decides that although you always wanted to find and help Mia, since you now know that she is not your sister she suddenly got irrelevant and killing Waltz for some reason is justified even though he probably is the last person alife that could find a cure to the Virus.
The only sane person in the game Aitor who seems to have been born with some kind of logic and a red thread to his Story SPOILER gets injured somewhere in the middle of the game and there is a side quest to save his life but after you save him there is no impact to the story and you never see/hear of him again. so the only character that didn't seem like a total bot/Npc Aitor has no impact to the story at all whilst characters that are absolutely irrelevant and uninteresting like Frank have a huge impact on the endings.

There's a lot more I could go on about but I think you get my point.
Gamplay wise this game was great but even there I was let down. The game is out about half a year now but I felt like alpha testing an indie game. I couldn't play for an hour without blackscreens or the story just breaking to the point of having to reload the last story point because I respawned outside of story territory with no way to get back inside it or characters needed for the story to progress just being frozen in the middle of nowhere and no way with getting them to move. I fell through the Map countless times, was stuck behind ladders or stuck in the air without being able to move etc.
I laughed everytime there was an update that stated: "fixed a rare bug where..." -what about fixing the common bugs then? Because it seems to me there are plenty!

I can say with almost 100% certainty that this game could not have been played through by the developer/tester team even once. With all the bugs I've found in my 30h playing through the main story I would need about 200 hours just to write down every bug I have encountered on this journey.

There is a lot more I could say but there really is no need for that so I'll just end this review with a quick conclusion:

-Gamplay is amazing at it's core but the game has more (even Gamebreaking) bug's than I could even count.
-Graphics are amazing.
-Story has no red thread, felt like a demented person tried writing a story and constantly forgot what he was writing about and just crapped something together.
-There were more Plotholes and unnecessary (really bad) plottwists that you couldn't even make them up on purpose.
-By far the worst story I have ever read, heard or played in my entire life.

If you want fun jumping around and enjoy parkour go ahead, It's great (if you don't enconuter bugs)
If you like a deep story or any story at all, just do yourself a favor and buy Hello Kitty, that probably has a better story than Dying Light 2.

All in all I would still recommend the game, it was fun when it actually worked but I'll leave a thumbs down for the almost unplayable state it is currently in.
