As a veteran Doom player I'll say this DOOM is the best one.

Yet another but not that mediocre Dark Souls clone, but this time in anime style. Code Vein got everything you love (and so do I): a simple combat system that hasn't changed much since Demon Souls; cute girls with big tidies; Warhammer 40k style weaponry - extra huge and pompous guns and melee weapons that the Emperor himself would envy; and STALKER themed respirators but with a bit edgy design.

There are lots of features that were kindly used from Dark Souls series, besides PVP(there’s simply no PVP). If you’re keen on souls like games, then this game is a good choice especially if you don’t mind anime, and its cliches like extremely unnecessary nudity, impractical weaponry and armory, and way too big anime boobies. However, if you’re fed up with anime related stuff and especially its ecchi, then it’s better to refrain from buying this game. But if you’re looking for some not that hard and punishing souls like coop game without PVP, then this game is a fine choice.

Overall combat, animations, cutscenes, lore, plot, soundtrack and especially character customization are really nice. The game’s soundtrack and character customization worth a separate review. Of course, the lore and characters’ backstory are not that deep and well-written in comparison with Dark Souls franchise, but still, I can’t consider it bad, just not that memorable, but good enough to immerse you in the world of Code Vein. In short, I do recommend this game for ppl who are looking for good, but not that challenging coop experience.

Advantages

-Way too beautiful soundtrack that highly suits to the game’s mood. (I personally think this souls inspired game has the best ost among souls like clones)
-Smooth and various combat animations, the animations are nicely done overall. Each weapon has unique several animations, not to mention some active attack gifts for each Blood Code and different finishers.
-Quite unique lore and characters backstory, you may think the game’s story is meh, but
you’ll find out the game’s world building is above average if you delve into the story.
-Various builds that may diversify gameplay a little. You can also easily change to another build at any time due to simplicity of leveling up your character.
-Good voice acting. Well, it’s no match to Dark Souls level, but still VA actors did really descent job. Many voice options in character customization.
-Extremely content rich character customization, that offers tons of ways to make your character stand out amongst the others + has great potential in cosplay making. You can easily spend a few hours in creating a character of your dream or your favorite character from tv show.
-Well, it may be controversial, but the game has its unique aesthetic which is far from either medieval design of Dark Souls series or steampunk style of Bloodborne. Art style is strongly inspired DMC & God Eater series, but may be a bit edgy.
-Brings in the new concept of blood veils, that allow to use special drain attacks within their normal attacks to get their ichor back, which is used to cast magic and use special abilities.
-You can change your build anytime you feel like it. If you’re done being typical tankie swordsman, then you can easily change your build for another typical rogue play style or focus on magic or become a gunner thanks to free-class-changing and no-stat-points system.

Disadvantages

-Way too easy bosses, most of which have quite mediocre look with extremely unnecessary oversexualization. Most of hostile npc have quite varied design, but then the boss appears to be another gigantic, half naked woman with big tidies.
-Excessive nudity, most of outfits, bosses, both hostile and friendly npc are wearing way too revealing and impractical clothes. I don’t mind boobs but cute anime girls with big tidies are ruining immersion of the game’s apocalypse, making it impossible to take the game seriously.
-Like it was mentioned before but the visual part of the game itself is also its problem, as the allegedly gritty story and hopeless world are being wrongly depicted in anime styles, which has its common problem - fan service. Code vein failed to combine something gritty and dark with cute anime girls in sexy outfits, swinging sledgehammers bigger than themselves.
-Quite inconvenient map that can’t be adjusted. You can’t move the map and adjust the elevation, which makes it difficult to navigate in some areas.
-Character creator lack some things like modifying body shape: no sliders for hands, legs and especially breasts; there’s no option to add muscles, abs and etc. Your character can be just a cute teenage girl as a female or just a skinny teenage boy as male. Character creation requires much more diversity when it comes to adjusting body shape.
-Poorly made map design in certain locations. Some locations are way too frustrating, grey and monotone, repetitive and far too long. Sometimes during your gameplay, you may
feel like the devs were too lazy to use more than very few textures. Overall, the game’s map isn’t that bad, but it’s not as genius as Dark Souls.
-Edgy fashion. Despite the game has its own unique aesthetic strongly inspired by God Eater and DMC, I personally find the game’s fashion quite unfitting to its overall lore, cuz fairly neat and tailored, spiky, sexy and yet edgy girlish clothes are a bit out of place in the gritty, ruined, full of despair apocalyptic world.
-Allegedly interactive memory cutscenes aren’t interactive at all. You do nothing during the cutscenes, but walking through linear level with depressing music and no less depressing blue lightning. With the time it’s getting more and more boring.

Such a unique game with beautiful lore, characters, gameplay, open world, and OST. I can’t help but admire this game and think back to when I first got NieR: Automata. Before downloading the game, I had some concerns about the mediocre at best plot, dozens of anime cliches, excessive nudity and impractical armor which makes you wonder if the heroine come to fight in the fiercest battles or just become another oversexualized product to be targeted by male players.

Fortunately, none of my concerns came true. This is extremely unique game, which stands out from the rest of the slasher games. Of course, there are anime tropes, but they don’t go beyond reasonable, and in addition tropes are well substantiated by the game’s lore. The heroine is way overpowered, but she is a combat model android specialized in close combat against deadly machines; the heroine is quite sexualized, but in moderation, and her attire allows the player to contemplate the beauty of 2b without rabid nudity; the main characters are very well developed. After completing this game, I can tell that the developers have put their hearts and soul into the game, especially into protagonists. Even side characters won’t leave you indifferent, cuz each of them got own unique backstory.

Not gonna lie; I came here only for 2b’s cake, but I’ve been really enjoying this game and especially its world building. At the beginning my expectations were quite low, cuz I thought I would play another generic anime-style slasher with mediocre plot and explicit nudity, which can be completed within a few hours. But little did I know that this game offers more than 20 endings, one of which would offer me to confirm erasing my save data, only just to save another player. Not to mention the game’s beautiful soundtrack which is one of the best of all games. The soundtrack is bright, eye-catching, unique and the most important, you immerse yourself in the game world as deeply as possible thanks to colorful OST, which perfectly suits the environment and the mood of the stage, that makes you feel like a part of this world.

Overall, this game truly deserves all the hype and popularity. I don’t regret my money spent on this one of the few masterpieces that prove that games are not just fun for kids. If you’re looking for open world game, with well-developed characters, detailed lore, amazing combat animations, beautiful views, then buying this game is a good choice.

Advantages:

- Well-developed and memorable characters, each character has own logic, with own philosophy and motives.

- Well written dialogues that occur during your adventures through locations, which makes characters feel like real people.

- Action RPG that also contains a platformer, shoot them up, bullet hell, and a text novel, and a slasher.

- As you progress, you will be able to play as 3 characters, which are shown on the cover of the game (2B, 9S, A2).

- Lots of endings, many heart-breaking cutscenes, plot twists, beautiful landscapes, lots of amazing facial and combat animations.

- Beautiful voice acting, catchy and yet beautiful soundtrack that deserves a separate review.

- Nicely done game’s world-building created by legendary Yoko Taro himself. However, if you don’t feel like to delve into the game’s lore, then the plot may be confusing or even weird for you.

- For my 40 hours of gameplay, I personally didn’t encounter any bugs at all. Maybe I am just lucky, but even if some minor bugs exist, I can tell that this game isn’t a bugged piece of flawed code.

Disadvantages:

- Despite the game’s uniqueness, it still has some typical, and yet annoying anime cliches. (Characters shouting out their attacks as they performing them on enemy, giant robots, slightly fetishistic yet unpractical clothes, and etc.)

- Fashionable, yet slightly skimpy outfits for some characters. Some people who don’t like anime much, may consider this game as another Japanese generic anime slasher with slightly sexualized heroine.

- Way too complex lore which may be quite challenging to understand for the 1st run. You have to play the previous Nier series to understand what the hell is going on.

- Despite beautiful landscapes, some locations are lack of feel of total apocalypse, like some buildings aren’t dirty, decayed, abandoned and ruined enough. All buildings are way too empty inside, there aren’t any furniture at all, it makes you feel like you’re rather in a concrete box, than in a place that used to be a home for people.

- Poor customization of your characters. You have very few options to change hairstyles, clothes, accessories. Even with dlc there aren’t much outfits, hairstyles, accessories and etc.

- Extremely inconvenient map that is difficult to navigate. Someone calls it a feature, but to me it’s just the laziness of the developers, which unreasonably makes the gameplay rather tiresome than immersive. Despite having some kind of in-game explanation, I personally don’t believe that in the game’s universe humanity is capable to recreate complex, human like machines with humane emotions and behavior, but didn’t manage to make at least a bit intuitive map for their battle androids.

Fairly unique souls like game that unlike the rest of souls type clones is quite distinct with its decent lore, characters story, atmosphere, plot, world-building and etc. The game's combat is also good, gunplay is satisfying, dozens of weapon mods, good reloading animations, various melee attacks that are also nicely done. Worth noting is the game is replayable due to random generation of each world, so if you're playing with your friend, then your worlds will be unique with absolutely different bosses, locations, loot and unique NPCs. In short this is one of a few Souls inspired game that are worth mentioning, but unlike the Souls trilogy, this game has new features like gunplay, weapon mods, opportunity to take covers during shootouts and so on. Despite that the game's lore and characters backstory isn't that great in comparison with From Software creations, but still it worth your time, especially if you're looking for some coop PVE game.

Advantages
- Not that detailed, but still worthy character customization.
- Memorable and unique lore and world building.
- Good graphics with decent gunplay and melee animations.
- High replayability due to randomly generated worlds that are based on RNG.
- Good visual design of bosses and enemies.
- Various builds.
- Sufficient amount of secrets, exploration is rewarding.

Disadvantages
- Despite RNG there are repeatable layouts of each map.
- Broken hitboxes, majority of bosses, mini bosses, and average bots can easily kill you through walls and other obstacles.
- Quite short story, that could have been much better and more detailed. Most of NPC lack of backstory and motivation.
- Mediocre soundtrack.
- Way too easy bosses even on hard difficulty, that have a very few and yet simple movesets that usually kill you due to poor hitboxes and never-ending zerg rush of hostile bots.
- Poor selection of outfits.
- Bad facial animations.

An amazing software for creating your own anime character. You literally can create yourself in the anime style or your favourite waifu/husbando. There are a lot of choices for editing face features, eyes, body complexion/stature, hairstyle and so on. You even can change your character's mood and face expressions. I suggest V-Katsu to everyone who is looking for a program with a wide selection of character creating and by the way it's for free!

Advantages
- A lot of customisation options
- Good graphics
- Easy to use
- Free

Disadvantages
-Male customisation is more limited I hope the developers will add more hairstyles, clothes for boys.
-Everything in Japanese there is no official translation. I tried to translate the software with patches but it didn't help me.
-No workshop. It would be great if the developers added an opportunity for community to create a new stuff. It would gain popularity for the editor.
