This game could be great, it just has a lot of gameplay issues.

Any difficulty outside of hardcore is basically a cut scene simulator, and hardcore is only possible when cheesing enemies' pathing using things like ladders, or running in circles. Currently there is no reasonable challenge in any difficulty.

Camera issues are abundant, I noticed in the house you start in, that the camera is way further forward than your player model, giving you a disjointed uncomfortable feeling. The FOV cannot be altered to compensate for how strange this feels. This leads to other issues, such as enemies grabbing you from what feels like 2 meters behind, but it's just where your character's body is, not the camera.

The audio is seemingly bugged, often I would have enemies land right beside me, with 0 audible warning. I also had footsteps cutting in and out.

The puzzles and directions are lacking, and often become repetitive survivals, or races to the finish.

Character and level design is really nice, but it's not enough to keep me from refunding a game from one of my favorite series. Perhaps I'll check back in on it if things are reworked.

Aside from those issues, the story is unique, what is offered to players is offered creatively, and I ultimately have enjoyed this game. After some adjusting to the block mechanic, and upgrading certain things, this game becomes a lot more fun(in hardcore mode).

3/10 Save your money for Crash 4.. maybe

The physics turn what looks like a perfect remake, into an unplayable mess. The camera angles are awful, and often too low for a platformer. I also encountered multiple instances of obscured jumps leading to my 0 lives becoming game over, where visually they looked as if walking was totally possible.

The hitboxes are inconsistent and you are guaranteed to take a hit every so often while attacking enemies. There are also countless times I had slid off an edge because of seemingly rounded collisions. The visual fx for some objects that will hurt you are often unclear, and add to levels' arduous trial and error.

This game takes what you may not have known from the original series, and says "good, let's add more and explain nothing." --with additional jank of course. No descriptions, no hints for hidden boxes, just a Donkey Kong Country overworld rip-off and it even under performs on that, at least DK Country had depth and reason for the overworld.

I tried revisiting this game multiple times, but the same frustrations are so blatant and I'd hate for someone to buy this game thinking they're getting a reskin of the originals with some extras. This is more like a fan game with a budget, though the problems mostly lie in the gameplay itself, the visuals/audio and cutscenes/voice acting are phenomenal.

I paid over 80$ for a campaign shorter than 5 hours, while the game presents itself as a lengthy campaign and signifies more to come in the future, I feel I was mislead by the marketing, as this game is very short, and caters to the online fandom more than anything else.

Upon seeing significant DLC being released for Mortal Kombat, I was excited to hear that my 80$ hadn't been wasted, and the fact that I paid 16$ per hour for the current 5 hour campaign, may not be an issue anymore.

False, not only is this shell of a game looking to take more from fans, it's not willing to admit or fix it's shortcomings.

In conclusion, I'm a gigantic Mortal Kombat fan, but I refuse to be fooled twice. It's nice to see how often your game is played, but statistics can make you lose sight of the offline players. I guess this is goodbye Mortal Kombat, I'll still watch your movie when it comes out.

The controls make the game nearly unplayable, and then they ask you to drive on a string. You can't feather drifts, it's all or nothing, you wouldn't notice the braking system if the tail lights didn't light up, and tiny bumps will completely flip you randomly, and inconsistently.

The calls from the co-driver are virtually guaranteed to be inconsistent, due to players driving choices. The Co-driver's speech does not speed up to accommodate, and inevitably gives information awkwardly regardless of early/late setting.

The careers do not cater to completionists, punishing you for trying to return and get better at a track, and forcing their awkward co-driver system into play. I understand you want to emulate rally driving, but adding limitations that are frustrating in real life, such as not being able to know every track you play, isn't the way to give rally lovers a game to play that provides freedom.

The Audio balance was incredibly strange upon launching the game, I ended up with Speech around 30, Music at 90, SFX at 50, and so on. The Co-Driver sounds like an AI trying to emulate speech patterns for some GPS, Co-Drivers in real life are much more relaxed or excitable, depending on driving conditions and personality.

In summary, this feels like an echo of what Dirt used to be, and how it celebrated and delivered aspects of racing that would normally be limited. This seems to have made other choices, and gone down a simulation route, which wouldn't be so bad if the controls/mechanics compensated.

This game could be something great, there are just some ridiculous issues...

Physics do no compliment controls.

Virtually no health bar.

Punishes you for going fast, but it is when the game is funnest.

Nearly dies from a drop I could land in real life.

Crushed by trees, and rocks while harvesting.

Holding Shift is too slow and doesn't allow for run&jump&hooks.

Holding CTRL is too fast, just make it so these "Sky People" can actually land from a decent height.

Maps are jagged and do no compliment the in-game movement. Often I would stumble off a small platform, or jump in a backwards arc while facing up a hill.

It took me roughly 35 minutes to complete the first tutorial, many crucial aspects were not laid out/taught properly.

I couldn't even bring myself to get to the Ship Building, which would likely be my favorite part of the game, I just could not make it through another minute of this jank fest.

I think this game could be fun, it's just dealing with some issues I see as major.

Gameplay :
Animations are often unrealistic, unnaturally fast, and repetitive.
Traveling around is far too common, became tired of running around without my motivations established.
Fighting is slow, and when offered a mechanic to speed up, it doesn't always work, and doesn't say why. (Just speed fights up permanently?)
Looting/Crafting feels empty, no changes visually, or skills learned, ect.
Looting takes two key presses to complete, considering the amount of loot, one would be fine, just have the menu close itself as the player leaves.
Using Weapons/Equipping Armor feels empty as well, no visual changes. (Just have the players find different ways to improve the characters ALREADY EXISTING armor/weapons.)
Battles can take up to 10 minutes, with almost no rewards.
Virtually no high-end strategy other than healing at proper times, moving, and knowing how much damage attacks will do.

Visuals :
Running animation looks like someone hardly jogging.
Attacks/Mob animations hardly have any variance.
Battle win cut scene seems unnatural, and quickly takes you out of the game.
Constant distance rendering issues.
Lighting in initial levels is overwhelming.
Long landscapes with repetitive flora/fauna made for bland traveling experiences.

Audio :
The voice acting is consistent, but it is consistently bad acting. Reminded me heavily of The Legend Of Zelda TV Series, "Excuuuse me, Princess." could have been said by the characters and it wouldn't have felt out of place.
Hardly any "attacking" or "getting hit" sounds, also felt empty.
No audible queues when player turns change, time speeds up, or a character is about to be hit by a charged attack/spell.
The soundtrack is quite nice.

As of writing this review I cannot personally recommend this game.
