No official controller support... played this back on ps2 in 2003, just doesn't feel right to me on k+m.

Are the countries who are still unable to play anymore escalated to be able to play again?

EDIT 6: Does the game function better now as of Late September 24? Yes, it's fun again. Can people in psn disabled countries play? Don't think so.

In 2020, I began this game... I encountered so many bugs and such a lack of polish, (lol) in the first opening hours that I gave up.
I said, "This isn't ready, its so buggy! It feels like it needs at least two years of patches."

Two years later, the Edgerunners update came out, the Trigger anime was incredible - it revived the game like V waking up in a junkyard... interest in the game was booming again!
Unfortunately in 2022, I couldn't be bothered... it was as if the moment had passed. CDPR kept talking about paid DLC, Phantom Liberty, Idris Elba etc. And I thought, gah, maybe... maybe when that comes out I'll try it again?

Summer 2023, it released to positive praise... I was busy playing Armored Core 6.
After I finished it (I recommend AC6 too), I turned to Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, updated it and it felt different from what I recalled, I mean mechanically, graphically, fundamentally... it felt... good... no wait, it felt great, it was smooth.
In 2020, it was a fat and overhyped caterpillar, promising more than it could deliver. In 2023, it had finally emerged from that chrysalis as a beautiful butterfly and a gaming experience I can finally feel great about recommending to anyone.

130+ hours I have put into this game since the 2.02 patch, and the 2.1 Ultimate edition patch has released since then, (fixing some key gripes players had such as a certain boss) - and my god! If this had come out in 2020 in this state it would have swept GOTY awards.
It is such a shame that original launch was so tainted, but CDPR has worked their arses off to make up for their mistake.

If there is a true sequel in development I can't wait.


There are a few minor issues which still annoy me:
-Why isn't there NG+? This game would be perfect for NG+, just make all the enemies stronger and give weapon levels Tier 6-10++, give more perk and attribute points. What are you gonna lose by giving players this?
-Players should have unlimited attribute point resets in order to encourage experimentation. I modded the game to allow this but it should be in the vanilla. It really isn't a big deal. It stops punishing players for trying a build and not liking it.
-I was so annoyed that the cool tree didn't click for me that I was desperate to reset - I changed to a shotgun build after and loved it.
-The pre-Johnny intro to the game feels too short. Many of those early game characters you are introduced to, such as T-Bug, -Evelyn, Jackie etc. feel too forgettable because you don't get to spend enough time with them.
-All the endings have a catch 22, would have been nice to be able to get at least one lasting joyful ending.
-Wish there were weapons like rocket launchers.
-Can sometimes be too easy with certain builds, sandevistan OP.
-Enemies could use a way to parry you better as I often just use Fenrir, Bloody Maria (Obliterate) and a sword to absolutely devastate them. Its only when they gang up en'masse with Maxtac do I ever sweat - even a bit.
-I want waaay more perk points just so I can use any weapon without that, 'Oh, but this isn't optimal because I am currently specced into shotguns not pistols', feeling.
-The new partner hangouts are currently a bit cringe.
-Some invisible objectives - save Goro Takemura?
-Limited upgrade items like that chimera core.
-Wish we could add mod slots to iconic weapons.
-No flying vehicles or boats you can pilot/drive.

Even though I have listed negatives... the game is jam packed with positives.
+The graphics - insane.
+The story and life paths, fleshed out and realistic, even though they are trying too hard to be dark sometimes.
+The overhauled combat and mechanics - incredible.
+The voice acting.
+Character animations and facial expressions.
+Small details.
+Insides of buildings, fleshed out, elevators, vertical density.
+Difficult choices.
+Characters like V (both versions), Johnny, Panam, Reed, So Mi, Judy, River, Kerry, Misty, Goro are insanely fleshed out.
+Mantis Blades, Monowire... in fact the whole cybernetics system is insanely cool.
+All the different gangs with distinct looks and vibes.
+Weapon upgrade system is simple but effective.
+I genuinely like Keanu in this role, I know he rubs the American media the wrong way, but I genuinely thought his performance was great.
+Fluid movement with reflex tree.
+Interiors of cars are so detailed.
+Variety of cars.
+Delamin.
+Relic Skill tree makes melee so powerful.
+Everything feels alive with or without you, its so dense.
+Meaningful side quests.
+Immersive and genuinely fun.

I truly believe if CDPR had slapped an "Early Access" label on this game in 2020, we would be talking about the 2.0 version of the game like people have been talking about Baldurs Gate 3.
