Microtransaction insanity

Updated review: Still an incredibly fun game and the optimization has gotten better, still not amazing but better than it was. Overall the game is fantastic with beautiful environments, cool monsters, and fun combat that I would recommend.

Incredibly fun game that has the worst optimization of any game I've ever played. Luckily it runs fine out in the open world for me but when you are in any settlement it runs so poorly on every setting. Even after changing every setting many times trying to find a sweet spot I just gave up and realized its that the devs didn't do a good job and not really your hardware so I tried to spend as little time in town as possible just not to deal with it.

This is a great example of why Steam could use some curation.

Fantastic game

Dave the Diver is one of my favorite games of the year because the game play loop is very fun and each part of that loop is interesting and enjoyable. I'd recommend this game to anyone who likes Sushi.

A fine experience I would recommend for the price, best game I've played this year so far.

Best 3$ I ever spent. It's actually a shame it's only 3$ I feel like the devs could of easily gotten 10$ out of me, perhaps a soundtrack release or some other way to support would be great! Don't even think about it and just buy it!

I can't explain why I cannot stop playing this game, I have enjoyed it greatly so far and hope to continue enjoying it for hours to come.

Update as of most recent league I played to lvl 90+ (Necropolis):
Every point in this review is still relevant, and even though this was supposed to be the quality of life league it fell so far short that the most notable change is that you can more easily stack currency in trade windows... How about fixing trade in general? Trading is still the worst of any game in history, it's really embarrassing how bad trading is in this game. Running through the acts every league is still as bad as ever, bloated and unrewarding, an absolute waste of time designed to make you feel like there is more to the game than just end game maps. Console port is still bad. If you value your wrists make sure you are playing this game with proper posture as you will be clicking like your a zerg microing in starcraft.

After many years of coming and going and playing every other league or so it is so disappointing the quality of life never gets better as time goes on. Sadly the biggest flaws of the game are not seen as flaws by GGG and they will probably never address them even though it is constantly brought up as a problem by the community. I'm not even going to go into the skill tree or the fact that you really have to download a 3rd party program if you want to play this game as there are many other less obvious problems to fix.

Trading is perhaps the worst experience in any game I have ever played, GGG disagrees and refuses to do anything about it.

Another big problem is running through the acts every single league on every single character is perhaps the most off putting thing about playing a new league. It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't take many hours of running through what feels like artificially expanded maps just to lengthen the "campaign".

End game map system is really fun and cool, the atlas is absolute trash. The atlas system is overly complicated that doesn't add anything to the end game, if you have a system that your players have to come up with guides and slideshows on how to progress through the system then you made a bad system...

Leagues themselves are cool much of the time, but by no means every time. GGG seems to believe quantity over quality is the way to go with implementing old leagues to the core game, this is not actually the way to go... What happens when you have 10 or so league mechanics in the core game? You have 1000 different currencies and 10 leagues you do a little bit of and never feel like you are progression in any of them.

Perhaps when PoE 2 comes out these issues and many others will be fixed but something tells me that won't be the case, I, along with many of the negative reviews of people who have 100s or 1000s of hours will still play the game but just want it to reach it's full potential. I however cannot recommend this game to new players, it is the most anti new player game out there and that will never change. If you do decide to try it make sure you have a second monitor or third as you will have 3rd party programs running, trade sites, and various cheat sheets for the leagues.

CONSOLE PLAYERS: Do not play this game on console, it is an actual bad game on console and they refuse to update it, avoid at all costs!

If this were 1$ I would say to pass, but being 99 cent it is a much easier pill to swallow. I must be clear here though, it is not really a game and I'm not sure why it even exists but I have spent 99 cent on dumber things so I recommend thee.
