Disclaimer: As of writing this reviews, for the past 8 months the game has been feeling like abandonware, hence why it make no sense to recommend this game.

TL;DR Don't buy, the daily player counts doesn't go above 20 on good days. Really doubt we going to see a miracle like No Mans Sky.

As an extraction shooter, Marauders has a solid foundation that make the gameloop extremely fun once you familiarize yourself with the environments.

Gunplay is sharp and the ttk is unforgivingly short yet rewarding. No matter the gear quality your opponent has, a few well placed shots will bring down anyone even with the weakest weapon.

The prestige system is what would replace the typical server wipes cycle usually found in every extraction shooters. While it is not fully in place since the devs wants to wait at full release to implement the feature, I believe with enough incentives, it would be a fresh way for players retention compared to the traditional moment of lower population as most would wait for a fresh wipe to get back into the game. The prestige system is giving the wipe responsibility to the players, letting them choose when it feels right to restart at lvl1 and get perks that make it worth along the way (More storage, more ship slots, cosmetics, etc).

Map designs is solid, like in EFT, there's no minimap/radar to orient yourself, knowing the layout of each maps was really enjoyable.

The way you get into those maps is by starting each round inside your little own spaceship, that part of gameplay is very hit or miss. You can either engage other Marauders which will result in one of you running to the escape pods and the other expecting a visitor in their own ship. You can see that early part of match as a Arena shooter, for some its a way to remove the randomness of large maps and replace it with a CQC, giving the victor(s) a chance to eliminate the competition before their put their dirty hands on the loot.

A downside of early space combat is coming in late into a map by entering, through one of the few airlocks with little covers, ringing the loudest dinner bell to those who made it first and would be waiting to, once again, eliminate the competition fairly early into the match. Or you could simply choose the rat way, because inventory is limited and valuable are bound to be left behind.

These type of choices make Marauders unique in the extraction shooter bubble, giving the players more than just "spawn loot leave" rotation.

Anyway, thats kinda getting long, sadly It's one of those kickstarter games, full of potential, forever lost. I won't hold my breath, and neither should you.

If you're a fan of the Warhammer 40k universe, love the gameplay loop of Left4Dead and want to unconsciously bob your head to some of the best original soundtrack made for a game, then Darktide is for you.

I have 300 hours or so on this wonderful game (14 days of gametime according to Epic Games Store) and I bought it again for steam, this should say plenty about how awesome this game is!

The Devs are a huge part of why this game is great, they listen to feedback, try their best to keep us updated on progress and they never missed a deadline so far ("We don't know" could be their new motto and that would be fine lmao).

Mods are not officially supported (yet) but there's already a huge amount of them ready to make this game even more awesome.

If you are a fan of Factorio you will definitely feel at home, the pace is slower since you do everything in first person view.

Post-1.0 Release edit: Game is even more awesome.

There is just no way I could recommend this game atm, bad optimization, tickrate is awful, ip region lock so people abuse the high ping and a huuuuge issue with cheaters ruining the game.
