Having played STALKER since I was a bubble nose mouth breather of a child, and thereafter, I have experienced the Zone in every fashion and have done just about everything in the latter of the games.

I always held onto hope that Stalker2 would come and not completely ♥♥♥♥ the bed like 99% of game studios; as it's been the standing record this decade.

I also had the pleasure of experiencing the very lifeline of the STALKER fanbase after COP... The modding community. GAMMA and ANOMALY included. but enough of my rambling let's get into the review.



- It still holds onto that STALKER atmosphere and retains a high level of congruence with the characters and story.

- The graphics are stunning. UE5 really making me question if i'm living in a simulation

- The overall accessibility and mechanisms in the game are intuitive and very similar to the previous titles, with simplified stats to weapons and armor.

- The open world aspect with the ability to cross regions with no loading screen or hassle, is astronomically immersive and cool

- Cushion anomaly go boingggg!

- Loot and gear is easy to get ahold of (I only play veteran difficulty, with 0 struggle for meds, food and ammo)


- English Voice actors sound like pushovers... And they're British so -1 point right there.

- Economy is very rough, even by the GAMMA modpack standards, [hardest progression]. Prepare to hoe yourself in Sultansk just to afford to pay the technician to lubricate your wepon to working condition

- Traders seem to lack miscellaneous items that prove useful in the zone: Medicines to negate Psi, Anomaly damage.

- The ANOMALOUS character animations not using an item and other anomalies that prove as an annoyance in fights or general exploration.

- Sidorovich is still ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ breathing...

- Can't bunnyhop through the swamps absolutely zoinked on energy drinks.

- Emmisions seem very lackluster for its intended atmosphere, but I may just be crazy wanting to step outside to enjoy the view.

- A-Life currently not working as intended (Is stuck in a spatial anomaly)

TLDR: Overall, great game, needs some work, but I'm very happy with how it is right now. It's not GAMMA, so don't expect it if you come from that modpack, GSC didn't sell themselves out with this one. Congrats GSC!

- Switch Voice acting to Ukrainian for extra immersion, and so that every character doesn't sound like a Human Resource office meeting.

- Use artifacts, they are good tools.

- If it's not bolted to the ground, it's meant to be in your backpack ;)

- Have 1 weapon for mutants, 1 for stalkers, and 1 for yoursel--- I mean stealth kills.

- Manage your weight, and make runs back to base if necessary, don't be like me and get caught 2km away from nearest stash at 87KG. It's a long walk.

- Aim for the head, saves ammo and makes you 20% cooler.

- Enjoy the zone, take it all in, and be sure to call Sidorovich a fat pig every time you find yourself in Cordon... For me... please <3

Nothing makes me happier than satisfying my primal male urge to tend to crops and drive heavy agricultural machinery.

Honestly, a very visually stunning, realistic, historically accurate game.

It encapsulates the time period very well with the structures, character names and feel. I'm glad to see UE5 getting some proper love. It runs decently well, has a few bugs, astronomically lower in amounts that you'd see from other EA titles.

However, the game itself is very lacking still, rightfully so since it's a very very new game, with a very small development team working on it.

Once you get through the early-mid game, you'll find yourself a bit lacking for new things to do, if you choose to run an infinite save with no win conditions. There are some quirks to it, some exploits that can turn your hamlet into a money brimmed kingdom, although in whole, it's one of the only EA titles in which I've been immediately surprised by.

TLDR;

Looks good, runs well, some bugs, missing late game content and some minor exploits that can create a disparity in challenge.

I hope Sir Henry visits my village.
