Hey. I rarely write reviews but here it goes. Sorry for bad English and also for the lack of PvP stuff, I'm just not interested in that for a moment. Not with ROR alive, anyway :>
I wasn't going to buy this game, haven't even heard about it. But here we were raiding bugged as <censored> ops in SWTOR and someone said: "Hey, we have to wait for 4.3 anyway since many people are going to try on this new MMO". People kept talking about it and I've decided to give it a try. Side note: I normally don't play shooters (or semi-shooters) at all since I'm very bad at them but some time ago my husband wanted to play GTA 5 with me and I kinda liked it in the end.
So I've got this game and been enjoying it so far. Now about what I like and dislike.
+ Modern and even better post-apocalyptic enviroment (♥♥♥♥ them elfs and magic).
+ Running around and doing missions without seeing 3.14 people camping over same boss. But in a while I suppose it may become repetitive and boring.
+ Doing hardmode operations solo - nothing like get your ass handed to you by some elite guys with flamethrowers. Although probably people with better aim and/or gear will just breeze through them.
+ Feeling of the world around you - from graphic design to random things you find like phone recordings, vids, etc. It really puts you there into the dying city and I'm feeling intrigued to know more about the outbreak.
+ ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US!!! Seriously, I love having some place for myself in games even if it's not pretty, moreso if it can be upgraded and developed by you. Ahem, what do they say about women and nests :>
+ Class trinity. Pretty controversial, this one, but I'm from the crowd that likes it. It's not mandatory to have a healer or a tank in your party, but surely it will help. From what I've seen in skills, you can build support role too!
+ Easy role switching so i don't have to level an alt to try something different. Also skill development is interesting (not sure I've seen something like that in other games): you unlock them through upgrading your base, rather then simply levelling. Makes sense lore-wise too - I mean if you want better grenade you need better technology.
+ Fighting style: aiming, rolls, cover. Reminds me of Mass Effect somehow, but then again I haven't seen many shooters before.
Now about bad things.
- Most important: REGION LOCK and restricted language. Sorry dear Russian voice actors, but my ears are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bleeding each time I hear NPC's speak. Also yes I get it's New York but it's not Brighton Beach and it feels VERY wrong to play this in Russian. Breaks immersion tremendously :< Yes I get it our version is cheapier but lot of people would gladly pay more for original sound and interface, but guess what? It can't be done with region lock, not legally anyway. I love my country but this is not about that, it's about immersion.
- Stability. Actually it's not that big of deal for me since I always have things to do if servers are down, but eh, money are paid and service must be available.
- Map design. So, I'm used to those tunnel enviroments where you can go only one way (/target Bioware /wave) but it would be better to have truly open world where you can go into any building and see what's there. Even if there isn't anything significant. Recordings and pictures alone can do the trick if done right. E.g Elite Dangerous planetary landings aren't that great and planets are pretty dull, but it's enough to know you can land on some uncharted world 50.000LY away from home to feel more deep into this endless space.
- Character customisation. Ugh. I just say that was the first time I've considered creating male character. First time. Ever. I don't mean there must be some pretty dolls with makeup (there's war going around, eh) but there must be more options. Also female faces look okay in character creator but ingame... (Disgusted noise by Cassandra Pentaghast).
- Endgame. I may be mistaken, but what do you do when you upgraded your base to the max and did all missions for 10+ times and not interested in PvP? Well, we'll see :)

Maybe something more but I'm tired typing :D
Would I recommend this game? Yes. If the person has money to spare on probably short-lived fun. If they doesn't or if they want some long-term game to live in? No.
