+ Amazing cast of characters that you can interact with in various ways and some have different paths in their questlines. Only thing im missing is a bit more banter during adventures like in Dragon age origins. i loved how for example morrigan always interacted with alistair in that game.
+ The storyline is solid and you can understand it without playing the previous games, you can roleplay however you want and there are different outcomes and endings that depend on your choices.
+ Combat is turn based which i personally like and i like how there are many different ways to deal with enemies, you can just murder them, persuade them to kill themselves or a big arsenal of spells and uses in the environment like pushing enemies from cliffs to instantly kill them or just avoid some completely.
+ Sound design and voice acting is top tier
+ Basically play however you want!
+ Game is being constantly updated and bugfixed

So thats my short review, if you like rpgs theres a lot of value for just 60e

After putting probably over 1000 hrs to this series over Sky, Zero, Ao, Cold Steel, im just here to say what a great series this is and hopefully more games will be coming.

If you're thinking of buying this be sure to first check previous games because this is the 9th game in the series, previous ones are:
Trails in the sky FC, SC, 3rd
Trails from Zero
Trails to Azure
Cold steel 1-3

With Zero and Azure having only fan translations

HERE im just going to write what i like about the series overall:

- Turn based combat where you can tweak your equipment and builds to your needs, I dont mind the combat from something like Tales series but turn based combat fits the trails series best.

- Characters, Theres ton of characters to play with their own skill sets some broken some not

- World and Story, I have always liked how most of the NPCs in the world always have different things to say when you progress the main story, making their own small stories to follow. And i like how the series keeps the world together by bringing the cast from older games and having them help the new protagonists and referencing old events.

- Lenght, not many games can keep their story going for 100s or hours and still keeping the plot from older games somewhat relevant, making ppl more invested into it. It can also be a curse to someone that wants to check out current games but feels the need to complete all the previous games but its worth going through all the games.

- Overall the ports have been very good with very few issues atleast on my end and i appreciate the good voice actors in both english and japanese.

I will 100% recommend the game, but for newer people atleast start from Cold Steel 1.
For those who have played the previous games theres nothing to say because you have already bought this one.

Now we wait for Hajimari and Calvard arc!

Taking place on the same continent as Trails in the Sky, Cold steel doesn't require you to play the previous games, Cold steel 1 was made so that new players can jump in.

To put it shortly the game has:
+Great Story, The story is long (took me about 80 hours) and falcom writing is great as always even though this game is kinda like a set up game for the next ones by introducing all the characters etc. (like FC in sky series) so dont expect anything too great from the first game.

+Likeable characters, all the characters have great backgrounds and everyone finds their own favourite, only ones i found lacking were the villains, they just seemed too lackluster in terms of personality.

+Combat, combat is turn based and has been made smoother with 60fps and new link system, arts have been simplified atleast in my opinion, which is dissapointing but it doesnt take away from the experience because the story is great overall.

+Soundtrack is great, but sky series had better in my opinion.

+Turbo mode makes it faster for those only interested in the story and for those who have already played the ps version

+/-Great voice acting, i saw some thread about not buying the game because there was no Japanese voices, but the dub was great and it doest take away from the experience and there was a mod for ♥♥♥. voices.

+/-School setting and the political conflict kept me interested but some might find it repetitive when they spend so much time on it in this game.

-Alot of missable stuff, but this is just a thing that i dont like

-Random crashes and game freezes(Maybe it was just me)

-Graphics might look a bit outdated, but it really doesnt matter in this game

tldr:
If you want an lenghty JRPG with smooth combat, school setting and likeable charactersWaifus then this is your pick, falcom delivers! you should also look into the previous games!

Overall: 8/10
