Played 4 matches. Every game I had to google something to figure out what to do. 1st game I got abandoned by the team and zombies kept spawning in rooms around me. Second game some guy told me to off myself because I didn't know how to play and kept ♥♥♥♥ talking me. Third game I kept witnessing zombies spawn in previously cleared and empty areas AROUND me and got stuck in an animation while reviving someone. Forth game I got surrounded by zombies spawning on top of me and glitching me into a wall or fence or something so I couldn't move.

TL;DR Game is hot garbage and is not even ready for early access. I barely got to play. Do not buy.

Really happy to get this game remastered. Playing with a controller is a lot nicer than playing on a vita for sure. Like the God Eater games, the beginning is very narrative heavy and may feel a little slow. Luckily I think it's JUST fast enough that you don't get bored fighting beginner enemies, so once you get to a certain point you can start engaging in build modification and understanding the gameplay loop you'll be engaging with later on. It's a bit of a niche game so don't go expecting tons of open lobbies online, as most people are partying up using things like the community discussion page, fan discord, and playing with friends.

All in all, great monhun-like game with interesting ideas and a good amount of character to it. If this game does well a lot of folks are thinking a Freedom Wars 2 will drop, so keep that in mind as well.

Ridiculous amount of UI elements and poor translation give this game an initial impression of slop. Combat feels slow and unresponsive as my attacks just go through a boar I was trying to fight. Concept looks decent but this game needs a lot of work and should not be releasing DLC when it's in such an unfinished state. Only play this if you can play free or get it extremely cheap.

Hard game that scratches a certain itch. Updates come fairly frequently and the community is surprisingly friendly for a game of this type. Highly recommend checking out the discord for help if you pick this up.
Things to note;
New player experience is not the best, and can be frustrating. Joining the discord can alleviate this but shouldn't be required.
Upcoming features like the second map and homestead currently hinder the crafting system a bit. Most things are accessible, to an extent.

Game never recieves updates anymore, and what updates it does get further complicates and slows down the game. I was excited for homestead that would provide more metagame progression so I could more easily START crafting entry level items, and have more options in terms of what I can do in my stash... Instead I got a terrible system that makes crafting even MORE inaccessible and confusing. You do not need to re-invent the wheel, there's already great systems out there for you to take ionspiration from. I enjoy the idea of owning and managing multiple homesteads, but remove needing to use up ACTIVE roster slots to put workers on the homestead. Just let us hire numbers of people that are homestead specific, keep our usable characters and homestead characters separate, have different progression for each type. You MUST streamline this or you will continue to bleed players. I'm sorry, but at this rate of patching and with the trend of your patches breaking things and making the game less playable... The game won't survive. I want it to be good, I really do, but you need to go back to the drawing board on this homestead system and meta progression. I kind of like the reputation system, and enjoy the idea of taking risks on jumping people that are allied/neutral to you. It's a cool feature, I like it. I also like the idea of a smaller, more PvP focused map.

You can still save this game, but you're on the edge. Put out some surveys in the discord, go back to the drawing board, etc.

If you have a life sadly this game is impossible for you. Combat system is extremely jank and while it has it's moments, the game insists on throwing multiples of enemies at you and the combat devolves to just backpedaling and cheesing through defending/countering or using a bow in melee range. Terrible design. I did enjoy the slow pace of the game outside of combat, but most other mechanics in the game also revolve around you failing for quite a few hours before you can succeed at much of anything... There's a game here, but unless you have 100's of hours to devote to it, it's unplayable.

What a great game. Solid devs... We also beat a giant corporation out of a dumb decision. DEMOCRACY PREVAILS!

Maybe I'm getting too old, but locking progression behind an absolutely infuriating task does not make for a fun experience. I was loving the idea of the game, even with it's jankiness. Then I got to needing deer pelts for tier 2 tech. The AI won't hunt deer, and the only bow/arrows you have are like a slipshod nerf bow shot by a toddler. I'm sorry but 3 hours of trying to kill deer is just not engaging when I go through 120 arrows and only get 1 kill. You need to provide options or allow my settlers to assist me in some way.

This game... I love CYOA books, and especially CYOA that involve a sort of gameified system where your character has defined stats, and maybe even a bit of gameplay like combat or puzzles. However, this story is an excercise in futility in both a good and a bad way. Narratively I enjoyed the idea about how the world just kind of sucks, and if trying to do something good, it may not matter much, or may even bite you in the ass somehow. My issues arise once you hit the youth stage. About halfway through it, you may begin to notice that you're not able to pick many options at all, and the writing seems to be very heavy-handed about what your character is deciding to do, without your input. It only gets worse. As the story progresses you begin to lack the 'resources' necessary to make basic decisions that should just be doable. In some cases your character outright does things that make no sense to what you've been roleplaying or doing in general. I.E. Extremely forced romance with a terrible character I 200% hated from the second I saw her. This persists through the rest of the game by the way, it's not a one off thing.

I can't recommend this game. There's grammar issues all over the place, which isn't the main problem, but it's annoying for me. It's got compelling world building and some really great characters, but the only part I enjoyed was tending to the Brante family. Everything else fell apart and was so horribly put together that I was constantly going "What? Why is this happening? That doesn't make any sense."

I gave it an honest effort, but you should wait for it to be much more on sale, or just read about the story online.

This is one of my favorite game series of all time. The first game is such a comfy romp through a peaceful world. Bit of intrigue and politics here to set the stage and then... Well, you really need to play it to understand. It's a very slow start, but I URGE you to take your time, and relax. Settle in to the world, talk to the NPCs, explore a bit. The more time you take, the more rewarding this first game will be.
This game is so critical to the series, so just relax, and enjoy it!

P.S. Olivier is best boy and you should always have him in your party if possible.

Finally, this game is ported to PC. Throughout the years I would occasionally get out the XBox and play through this and Heroes. Never got boring for me, though I did miss multiplayer a lot. Now that we've got it on PC, I was psyched! It's still at 30 fps but I don't really see that as a problem, especially because the logic behind the game is tied to the frames. The 4k and the fact that we're on PC now makes the game run great and there are no hiccups like the original. I'm a bit sad that there's no multiplayer support, but I'm hoping that this game doing well will prompt them to either update this with more PC centric updates or release Heroes with multiplayer and other QoL improvements as well. Honestly KuF 2 was a downgrade for me and I am hoping for a real KuF game soon. Here's hoping this kindles the fire!

Highly recommend, you get a lot for 20 dollars here, and there's a good chance Heroes will also be ported if this does well enough.
