W O W just W O W

May honestly be game of the year for me.
Hard as nails, unforgiving, and tight tight TIGHT controls.
You can tell its from the MFs that loved Beat 'em ups and made DFO cause this game while hard - it gives you all the tools to just demolish anyone and everyone. When you die, 99% its on you for real skill issue.

This is hands down one of the coolest games I've played.
Jesse is a genuine badass and playing as her with a blast.
Story was INCREDIBLE, leave it to Remedy to just crank this ♥♥♥♥ to 11 and just let it rip. The combat and exploration are so well made, everything is so damn smooth and fluid I loved every combat encounter. Just as a whole this is an experience I'll be pushing onto my friends who haven't already played it.

Everything about this game was so damn captivating, I've only just finished the main game and I'm excited to get into the DLC and post game stuff, seems like theres still a decent amount of stuff to do.

They've got their hooks in me, going to play Alan Wake again as I wait for the second to come out on steam. Also gonna pick up FBC Firebreak later this year and Control 2 whenever we're graced with its presence.

-Review for LAUNCH state of the game-

Game is fun when you're actually fighting monsters. Even with it running at a stuttering 35FPS the fights are a TON of fun.
They added a handful of new things to make the combat a lot more enjoyable but also removed a bunch of staples of the game and QOL we had in worlds & rise.

Obviously most of the negative reviews are about how horrendous the performance is, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ they are not exaggerating. If you don't mind putting your game at 50 FPS, medium settings at 1080p WITH frame gen and still getting constant drops textures looking blurry and lots of pop in, have at it this game is made for you.
The problem is that's not all the issues not by a long shot.
It launched with less monsters than both Worlds & Rise
Theres a bunch of armor/deco skills that don't work correctly or in a handful of cases don't work at all.
The monsters all die unbelievably quick.
Everything is so washed out it feels like I'm playing a shooting game from the 360.
There's no Palico cooking cutscene??????
Half the AWFUL story is on-rails walking while NPCs talk.
HBG is a shadow of its former self.
Final boss has armor in the game files but not in the actual game.
I could go on, but the horse is dead and its not getting any deader.

I know the optimization SHOULD get fixed at some point, and we will get more monsters for free as time goes on, and the skills will be fixed, and they will add more than 6 monsters with end game equipment, they will add the hub back to the game.
But they launched it like this, and they charged $70 for this, and It feels like an early access game in so many aspects it brings down the whole experience.

I trust this will eventually be another solid gold game like Worlds, but in the mean time it's not worth the price tag at all.

I've read that this is the closest we're gonna get to Bloodborne on PC and this really sets the bar SUPER high for BB. This game is nearly perfect, I honestly loved everything about it. Some of the best most satisfying combat I've had since playing with since Sekiro.

I finally understand the Plight of the average Lesbian

An homage to Resident Evil (dead aim) and old horror titles in all the good ways. It takes some many existing ideas and adds to them with the combat with some new ideas.

Spent a lot of time as kid playing the Ratchet & Clank games, and this is a love letter from people who clearly did the same.
Its funny as hell, has a lot of unique weapons to play with and upgrade, and the combat is basically DOOM Eternal + bullet hell. Lovely platforming sections peppered throughout.
Its full of ridiculous scenarios and game references start to finish.
HEAPS of Secrets and items to find that make exploring every nook and cranny a load of fun.
While its a little rough around some edges its so charming its easy to look past.
I fully intend to go through all the levels again and 100% the game.
This genuine GEM was made by a small team and i look forward to anything else that comes from them, what an incredible experience.

This game is incredible. First $70 game I've bought and I've got to say it was worth every penny - no contest.

100%'d on Impossible difficulty, IT WAS A BLAST.

It's genuinely more of the same from the base game, if you enjoyed the combat and progression systems you'll love this.

Took about 34hrs total, game time is lumped in with the base game for some reason.

This has become one of my all time favorite games by a long shot.
Genuinely in absolute awe of this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ masterpiece.
Feels like a hidden gem from the PS2 era of gaming.
