I wanted to like this game I really did, loved sid meier's pirates and this game clearly took inspiration from it, but it just feels so unfinished. Theres lots of stuff the game does well and theres lots of stuff to do but it would be giving an inch over a mile considering its flaws. I could rant about the awful map that I had to use google maps and a guide to navigate. Or about the impeding bugs or the boring story mode stuff I wish I skipped and the side quests that would make you find a cave on an island or something but it would make you walk the entire time (had to roll back a save). Or I could talk about the jank early 2000's era land and boarding combat, or the fact that your cannons are essentially useless even with a master crew if you dont have a good officer. And yeah you can argue "Its just balance" or something but at the end of the day I bought the game cause I wanna have fun, 10 hours in and I dont think I've had enough fun to justify the purchase unfortunately, especially considering whoever made the game thought they should add a bunch of ship DLC's before ironing out some of the glaring issues.
Let be known if you do end up buying this game be prepared to use lots of guides cause the quests and learning the game in general can be extremely convoluted at times. In conclusion if I wanna play a game like this I should probably just go back to sid meier's pirates.

The games quite addicting, that doesn't really coincide with being a "good" game though. Not the best at the game but even when I do well it just feels hollow and unsatisfying most the time, feels like you're chasing a high that doesn't exist. I also find the fact that the community is cool with the uber predatory nature of monetisation in this game to be quite the farce regardless of weather its free or not it feels like a mobile game in that regard (500 coins for a single bush/$30 tanks/super low yield lootboxes/etc).
Edit: Had no idea you guys planned on bombing the reviews a couple hours after this post when I had wrote it but good on the community for proving me wrong

The save system is totally wack. Had a save corrupt and lost 4h+ of gameplay. Story is just as god awful as the first game which isnt making retracing my steps very enjoyable, literally just skipping it all at this point. Running into multiple broken quests already. The parkour feels incredibly dissatisfying but that might just be because I havent leveled it up enough. The hack and slash combat is alright. I'm sure ill add onto this review once I've played some more but that's where is stand 12h in.

Super fun if you're good at the game but I'm not good at the game most of the time.
(Coming back to my review years later what I said still rings true. I just cant recommend this game to someone unless you've played these kinds of games before or are willing to get your ass kicked for 100 hours before you're skilled enough to actually enjoy the game. A skill-based matchmaking sysem would solve these problems but as far as I'm aware its never gonna happen. I'm sure ill redownload the game in another year for a few matches just to delete it again out of anger of just not being that good at the game.)

Games like this are the definition of not needing fancy graphics or zany game mechanics akin to jangling keys in a babies face to make a good time. Literally spent hours at a time trying for better scores, certainly worth the few dollars.

Games more difficult than its worth playing. If you cant get through the game on easy without using min max tactics its just not worth the effort.

Gotta be the least satisfying ending ending for any game that I've played in ages. No closure at all to a three game series it's literally just 4 different static endings that are garbage, almost ruins the first two games ngl.

I feel like the Need For Speed franchise has taken a dip to a point of no recovery, there old games used to be awesome, memorable, and replayable, but the newest NFS Games I've tried don't have any of those characteristics. this game along with the game just called "Need For Speed" are dumpster fire compared to the old games.
