Randomly checked out a Drae video today and saw this game in it and I just had to buy it, the tussle between doing laundry and making guaranteed cash, or waste my life away on little arcade games was not the fight I expected to have with myself, but here we are.

From pulling bubble gum off chairs, to throwing away the trash, to unclogging a mega dump this game turns everything into a very satisfying mini game and I would highly recommend anyone to check out this little Indie Game.

After putting a few thousand hours into this game, and being entirely burnt out, for good reasons, I feel I can accurately give a review.

The Game

Dead by Daylight absolutely has it's moments, there are no games you can play as Ash Williams, Ellen Ripley, Or a whole host of favourites from the Resident Evil franchise and be chased by ghoulish spirits, torturous Knights, a Xenomorph and much much more.

The premise is simple, as a survivor you must power generators while avoiding killers via any means necessary, with a slew of perks making certain play-styles easier no match is the same (sort of). You can run a stealth build, you could run an aggressive chase build, or you can run a build focused on speeding up generator progress to make the match end sooner, if that's your preference.

As a killer you must hunt, each killer has their own unique power which they can utilise to pressure generators, speed chases up, or sometimes a combination of both, run perks to suit builds that help you pressure generators, or increase your likelihood of ending a chase quicker, it's up to you, but you must hook survivors 3 times to remove them and stop them helping their team from progressing.

The Gameplay

While a lot of your time as a survivor will be spent holding M1 on a generator, the chases are where the game really shines, utilise tile placement (the way the map generates) to chain certain loops together, drop pallets to stun and slow down a killer, or use windows as shortcuts to the next loop.

Some killers, like The Trapper have a setup phase for themselves, the trapper puts down deadly bear traps that hold a survivor preventing them from continuing a chase, but be careful as they can escape this trap, The Huntress throws speedy hatchets through the air allowing you to injure survivors from a distance. With around 30 killers at the time of writing this, the limits are endless, but you'll spend your time hunting, guarding and patrolling the map trying to make use of mistakes survivors make, or dead areas of the map with little to no resources (pallets/Windows)

The Community

This is where the review comes to a bit of a downer, the community CAN be great, there are some incredible content creators, and many many friends to be made, but you'll have to put up with 10x as much salty survivors, toxic killers and just in general a negative attitude when it comes to losing in Dead By Daylight. The community is constantly in a flux of "Us Vs Them", I've absolutely been apart of that problem too because this game can suck you into one side or the other, thenkfully there are a lot of impartial people to help guide and mitigate this but if you're looking to get into Dead by Daylight I would recommend hiding the in-game chat or be wary of those in-game.

Overall

Overall, i would recommend Dead by Daylight, some of the greatest people I've known have been met through this game, I've had countless hours of fun, laughs and down right silly moments and I'm thankful for the game BHVR has created.
