Maybe the most frustrating AC game in terms of gameplay. Missions are the most tedious they've ever been, extra objectives are downright unintuitive and sometimes barely possible.

The RPG and management aspects, though improved over at least revelations in terms of pacing balance (AC:R for example had absurd prices for endgame monuments that you'd never reach in regular playtime, and the assassin management system required constant upkeep), feel completely hollow as upgrades are rarely worth getting - not that you can even upgrade most things until it's far too late in the game due to the truly absurd crafting system.

The narrative is severely disjointed in a way that does not let you attach to any character in a meaningful way.

The characters and dialogue writing compared to the ezio trilogy are such a downgrade that it has inspired dozens of video essays on its own.

The overall plot, takes a somewhat interesting turn for the first time since 1 in some regards with the primary twist of the first few chapters, only to squander it with... ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 2012 end of the world ♥♥♥♥.

If you can at all bring yourself to not play this game, follow that feeling. I needed to get the achievements, and it led to so much suffering.

As of right now, the game is still constantly crashing on various loading screens. I've gone through every step/process on the forums and on modding websites, nothing stop the crashes on loading screens. There are still, two years after the PC release, daily posts by different people about how the game is crashing. This is an entirely unacceptable state of affairs.

The open world *does* do a lot of really bad things to the world design of the souls formula.

I'd skip this one.
