I have a love/hate relationship with this game.

The visuals are stunning, the control is very tight and accurate (a dream with the Steam Controller as well as mouse/keyboard), the story and content is great, performance is fantastic/optimized engine... but...

Most of boss battles are just extremely lame. No inventiveness at all... nothing like the original 90's bosses. The boss mechanics for 90% of them is just to horde lots of ammo and health items. The G3 boss is the only one with some clever mechanics. Final boss is just a simple run-and-gun. Very disappointing!

Of course, inventory space and health/ammo are very restricted as they should be for any RE1/2/3 style game. Unlimited saves though so no conserving ink ribbons. This is mandatory given the gameplay as explained below.

Zombie/roaming encounters have too much randomness of damage when using smaller munitions. If it's not a one-headshot weapon/larger munitions, it can take anywhere from 5 to 15 ammo perfect headshots to drop one... totally random. Add the resource limitations, it leads to the desire to reload to hope for a better roll of the dice to conserve ammo. AI is also a bit broken as they will often meander around or turn oddly vs going after the fresh meat correctly like the original games.

Overall I give it a 9/10. There is a LOT of content in this game- from the first and second runs for the two characters, plus three unrelated side-missions (and two additional unlockable side missions) that have a lot of replay. This doesn't even include achievements or seeking that A or S ranks and Hardcore mode. I can easily see sinking 250+ hours if seeking all the content and unlockables.

I love this device and wish I would have bought it sooner!

I was leery based on the luke-warm reviews of it's use over wireless, but on good wireless, it's flawless. I use a Nighthawk high-end Wifi that generally gets 1566mb connection speeds and 10ms latency. This unit plays 99% of my games perfectly.

Coupled with a Steam controller, you wont need to sit at your computer to play games any more.

With the exception of some Codemasters racing games, everything else I've tried works great Plus, it has minimize to desktop so you don't have to get up and go to the next room to make quick changes on the remote PC.

Picture quality and controller latency is fantastic. Setup was a breeze. You just plug it in, turn it on and select the PC (or PC's) on your network you wish to connect to. It puts a number code that you go to the PC and type in, then done.

Also, you don't need the dongle for the Steam controller. It will pair with holding X then pressing the Steam button to power it on. This is a one time thing the first time you use the Steam Link. Great, easy setup! I was even able to pair it to a Logitech bluetooth keyboard with touchpad so you can use many bluetooth devices for your couch/bedroom gaming.

Right off the bat, I have to bring up this game is about 2 hours long. Maybe 3-4 hours if you wish to get the achievements but there is little replay value aside.

That being said, this is one of the most memorable experiences on Steam if you enjoy a deep, detailed story with a host of interesting characters. This is one of the most incredible examples of story telling I've seen in a game or even in recent decades in cinema.

Gameplay is mainly guiding the various characters through their stories. You do have a lot of freedom to examine and admire the detail and beauty that the artists have crafted for this masterpiece. You do not have any way to change the result so it's simply a linear story-telling narrative with one set path through each part of the story.

I definitely recommend this to anyone that enjoys an artful, heart-felt story with interesting characters. It uses an eloquent, artistic and masterful presentation style like nothing I've ever seen before. If you can set aside two hours to be taken away into this magical world of fairytale-like story telling, pick this up! It's particularly recommended to play in one sitting if possible.

Orwell is a futuristic, anti-statist venture into the realm of adventure gaming.

You are the "investigator" who is tasked to spy on, dissect and apprehend enemies of said state. You have access to anything any "enemy of the state" may have- including their chat sessions, texting, bank accounts and of course, phone calls and internet usage.

If they speak with others... well, now you get the same for them.

It does do a good job of drawing a line for what it takes to protect people (the story is rooted in a terrorist act that killed multiple people) and personal privacy without knowing the whole story as an outsider. In fact, it draws much of its strength from the latter. So many out-of-context text and email discussions and phone conversations will easily put you on edge. Lives are at stake for the next attack. Can you prevent it?

It does an amazing job of making it's point crystal clear while still providing engaging gameplay. You will easily get a play through in 4-5 hours... but I felt the need to go back a few other times to seek better ends or means as I F'd up two bits when real life called. Yes, it does demand a lot of focus from players. Dedicate some uninterruptible time to enjoy this gem...

4/5 from my aspect. The 5/5 would be if they fixed the interface. Mouse-wheel scroll (or two-finger touchpad) does not work.. and there is no resolution support (always picks desktop resolution).. for those of us on 4k, LOL-to see any achievements given as they are a thumb-sized square in the lower right side. Fix these simple mechanical things for a 5/5 win.

Okay... Blackjack players... do NOT waste your cash on this title, no matter how cheap. I mean, even 2 cents is TOO MUCH to pay for such a terrible, terrible title.

I got AAK and it busted me as 22.... I mean.... Really? And this was after a computer player split a non-pair but no split option is available. I posted these things to the developer to crickets....

So, no splits, no logic for aces, no actual strategy, no developer support... this is clearly a bad cash-grab with no redeeming features. Even the art style is completely stolen. It's bad across the board.

I hit a bear while on an election rigging mission. It gave it to me anyway.

I have no regrets.

Layers of Fear is an incredibly dark but deeply involving psychological horror game.

Through artistry, atmosphere and sound, it takes you on a journey into pure madness. It's one of those rare few games that truly creates apprehension and discomfort with where the story is leading... and just when you thought you'd seen it all, it literally pulls the floor out beneath your feet...

I'm an old-school, WASD and mouse gamer. As much as I love console gaming, I can never play any first person or shooter games on a gamepad. It feels like you are driving a tank instead of controlling a player!

This controller helps bridge that gap. It is still not as good as keyboard + mouse, but it suffices to make mouse + keyboard games more acceptable and faster spins/manuevers than a dual-stick analog gamepad.

Setup was super easy. Simply plug in, press the button... done. I already run Steam in big-picture mode in my living room so I also opted for the beta client and recommend you do the same to get the latest firmware and big-picture updates.

Community support is amazing! Just about every game already has several community made controller mappings so you don't have to spend hours configuring games by yourself. If you like that sort of thing, this controller is SUPER configurable. Pages upon pages of insane configuration and tuning, feedback, haptics, etc. etc. You have every possible configuration you can imagine and you can fine-tune just about any "feel" you are looking for.

The "gyro" control is pretty neat- you can twist and tilt the controller for added precision or to replace steering controls if you wish. Also, the under-controller paddles are perfect for things like jump, reload, melee swipe, etc. etc. There is also next to ZERO controller latency so controls feel crisp and fast.

I recommend this to anyone using Steam in big-picture mode and wants to couch-play mouse-style games. It works with every Steam game I have thrown at it and it makes first person and shooter games MUCH better than my XBox wireless game controller.

I've never seen such amazingly well developed characters and fully fleshed-out story in a videogame before,

I am in utter awe on how this story reaches straight from the screen to the player. You will instantly be involved and find youself deeply committed to the story where you lose total track of time or the world abroad.

I'm also amazed at how deeply your decisions alter the story. Decisions DO matter and it is such a great dynamic to such a flawless gaming experience.

This tasteful and artistic game I'd recommend to any self-respecting gamer. It's like a rich novel but with huge amounts of interactive direction to the player.

Terrible, terrible aliasing issues in this game for a triple A title. It amazed me that the horrible jaggies, edge crawl and visual artifacts that abound in this game somehow got through QA. It's especially sad since all the screenshots for this game obviously have either been photoshopped or using a special engine that has actual Anti-Aliasing.

I cannot even play the game because the visual artifacts and jagged appearance destroys the immersion of the game. I cannot recommend this game due to this huge issue and the developers have not even commented or addressed this HUGE issue. Given this is 2014/2015, a triple A title should never be released without any acceptable form of full-screen antialiasing, be it MSAA or SSAA.
