This game is often criticized by its (Battle Rank System), in which you gain ranks by fighting enemies, but sooner or later lands in a situation where a certain monster/boss is just seemingly impossible to beat. That's because enemies scales with your Battle Rank, whenever you gain rank they do too (albeit at a way higher stat gain than yours). The problem with that is your later recruits will be under-ranked due to them not gaining rank IF they are not in your party. Their initial Battle Rank is fixed and they await your recruitment at different points of story progression. So if you over-grind your starting lineup, you will end up with the game breaking issue where your later recruits will be dying constantly compared to your starting lineup due to the gap in their stat differences.

The solution to that would be to not overdo it by grinding early/mid game where it results in the issue of your later recruits being under-ranked (or rather your earlier recruits being over-ranked by the time you meet later recruits). There's really no real reason to grind until you're at the late/end game UNLESS there's a material you desperately need for upgrading weapons (the materials needed for upgrading gets increasingly more difficult to obtain as they near the end of their respective upgrade trees). The drop rate from monsters/gathering points are notoriously bad and might require more than multiple tries to get what you want. Personally I would recommend grinding after getting all or most of the main recruits just so you can collect everyone's upgrade materials all at once.

Game is awesome once you get familiar with the system. 10/10 <3
