Despite popular belief that this game is garbage, it is still quite good. Sure, Okinawa parts are quite boring sometimes (chase Haruka here, chase Haruka there) and story is not Yakuza 0 level, but apart from that there is also cool character development with Ryudo family members, and a quite good main story which is mostly set in Kamurocho. Only thing that I should add is that you must download quickstep restoration mod, because without it game is gonna be much much harder than the original PS3 ver.

Quick summary: a must-play for anime enthusiast and an absolute masterpiece.

Compared to previous installment, this game is a complete upgrade: Cel-shaded anime-like graphics, detailed cutscenes, a lot of attention to detail, interactive environment and much much longer story.

Gameplay is much more satisfying - every single action you make is followed up with a smooth transition or animation - which look especially good when played at high framerates.

Combat is much more satisfying this time with better controls, and well designed user interface which is both stylish and extremely convenient.

Story, if played for the first time, will take around 150 hours to complete - that's a massive upgrade from P4G's 40 hours - and It does not get boring because of good storytelling and interesting plot twists. After spending more than 500 hours (combined vanilla P5 on PS3 and P5R on PS4) it still didn't get boring for me so that should say something.

Soundtrack, just like in any other persona game, is an absolute banger yet again - first time I heard Take Over I couldn't stop listening to it for a few months.

One thing that absolutely sucks though - mementos. Imagine tartarus from Persona 3 but instead of climbing up you are climbing down. And you cannot skip it as well.

Also quick shout out to crybabies on net: Okumura palace is not hard, you just didn't learn the easy mechanic called baton pass in your 50 hours of gameplay.

Two words: ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.

Story might be hard to pick up at first, but if you play for more than 5 hours, you will be sucked in. Open world gameplay might not work like you might think, but it perfectly fits in (although I would appreciate a controlable camera in overworld as well).

Combat is also satisfying - I wasn't a fan of turn based RPG games before, but the way it is performed here makes it special. You can feel the requirement to grind, but it's not as bad as in Yakuza 7 for example.

Soundtrack - be prepared to hear lots of bangers you will probably hum for next few months if not less.

Only thing I kind of regret though - I played this before Persona 3, and because of that, I didn't get many references to previous game story or locations. So if possible, play the first game, or at least watch the anime adaptation.

It first started as a game I started entirely from pure boredom on my psvita I bought last summer. Now here I am having played it for more than 80 hours in total, not to mention other games from the series. In my heart, however, P4G is my favorite from them all.
