It's ok, definitely worth playing for an hour or so.

It's ok.

Pillaged half of Europe as a bad ass viking? Check.
Reform your religion that promotes incest? Check.
Kill out your line with a bunch of inbred kids? Check.
Would do it all again? Check.

Zombies? Check.
Post-Apocalyptic Wasteland? Check.
Base Building? Check.

It all sounds very cliche, but it's pulled off - well. Instead of being focused on 1 area, it takes bits and pieces from each genre and creates a game that's worth playing, and definitely worth the price tag.

Audio: ★★★★☆ [4/5]
Well constructed music and sounds' guns sound like they pack a punch, panting when fatigued, the grunts and shuffling noises of the undead, lurking in the fog. The music is good, however some seems misplaced (too upbeat when you've just seen your community slaughtered, for example)

Graphics: ★★★★☆ [4/5]
Obviously, nobody is expecting top of the line graphics here, yet doing it like this has it's charm. It's cartoon-like appearance helps take away from the harshness of the surroundings, whilst still immersing you in what's going on around you. Some of the animations could of been improved though, however, for an indie game, personally graphics don't matter too much.

Gameplay: ★★★★★ [5/5]
Gameplay is a very important feature; the most important you could say. The gameplay is done flawlessly. Base building, whilst it could be expanded, is simple. The UI is easy to navigate, which is handy when you've got zombies swarming around you, with that looter party in the horizon getting ever closer. Guns are well thought out, and whilst slightly limited, each serves a role with perks and drawbacks for each. The RPG elements keep the game fresh, and keep you on your toes as to who is the best man for the job.

Options: ★★★☆☆ [3/5]
A range of languages to choose from and rebinding keys are big pro's for an indie game. However, the options menu's are let down by the lack of Graphical options (Resolution, Full-screen, and 60fps are your only options) and the sound sub-menu, whilst efficient and clear, when turning everything down to 0, some noises are still audible (such as panting).

• Certain characters problems (certain characters lung cancer or Alice's insulin need can take away from the fun.

SUGGESTIONS

• Houses; some buildings have more than 1 entry/exit, however characters must always enter and exit through 1 door.
  
• Ability to synthesize anti-gen's. Similar to the crafting system for bandages / molotov cocktails, could possibly craft certain antigens, with the rarer strains requiring rarer materials.
  
• Perhaps a more "dead-end" start zone to help minimize attack casualties early on, or the ability to deconstruct, then, using concrete, build a new bunker.

The sheer open-endness of what music you can put into it is amazing.

One of the best HL2 Mods I have ever played

Very good game, very well executed. However, I would recommend waiting for a little while, as since they have moved onto Steam, their servers are constantly overloaded, with sometimes a queue of 900+ people.

Good game, excellent fighting system with a big world map to explore and conquer. Creating your own faction, and the politics and diplomacy that's involved - really take this game up a notch.
