My "friends" People I thought I knew got me this waste of time as a birthday gift... we don't talk anymore, since they obviously don't like me.

(I didn't check the box saying "I got this for free" because it cost me my friends and 42.5h of my life)

Always wanted to play this, since it came out, but it took quite a long time for the content/price balance to be acceptable for me.

If you have one friend to play with that's cool, but if you have to play with the bigger ships to fit more friends, the sloop is in every way superior and can outmaneuver AND outrun every other bigger ship, no problem. You can try and sail with the wind to be faster, but you reach the end of the map, before you'll be out of view distance. The crew scaling is crap. Since the sloop seems perfect for 2, every other ship feels way too big to handle against already more experienced players, that hunt you down even after they already sank you like 3x at an outpost you just spawned in.
You basically handycap yourself by playing with more than 2 people, especially if you are new to the game. Playing alone, on the other hand, just makes the game feel like a tedious ****fest if you want to move even a medium amount of loot from A to B. I'd rather play Darksouls 1-3 then.

The community seems very toxic as well. There was almost no chance of an alliance with random players, since most encounters are of aggressive nature (It's the same disaster that killed DayZ: "Shoot first, before you get shot"). 90% of players you encounter are full on PvP aggressive and sink you just for fun even if you just started with a new ship without loot or emessary flag. There is almost no chance as a newcomer to catch up with people that wasted their life in this game since alpha. There is far too little reward for player interactions than it is to just shooting everything without question. It feels like the community destroyes itself, therefore the game for a lot of players, and they're having fun doing it. So if you're a DayZ player, who misses the time, where DayZ was in a selfdestructive cycle of toxicity and not at it's end like it is today, it's your lucky day! Join this ****show and relive the same "fun" process in a new game!

It should be quite the red flag for a community, if EVERY random player that has joined my crew to this point, is surprised if you are friendly.. like basic communication skills and not toxic.. and they never wanted to get close to other players.
Does that explain the small crew sizes as well? That the average SoT Player seems to have unlikable pesonality traits and therefore not many friends anyways? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

TLTR:

Took quite a long time for the content/price balance to be acceptable for me.
Now the content is awesome for a Sale-Price, but you won't be able to enjoy it because of the absolute hostile community.

Holy shmokes, if you like those games but Mindnight is too much talking/meta or TTT is too much FPS-ish for you.. this is the perfect crossover!

And the best part; even when you're out of the game, there is still so much you can do to help your Team!

3,99€, wth are you still waiting for? ...well friends to play with probably, but then again -> wth are they waiting for?!11?

Love it!

I played the game for 5 minutes and immediately realized that it is unlike any game I've played so far. It's been a long time since I've had so much goose bumps during a game that is so nerve-wracking and yet beautiful at the same time!

The story and its implementation devoured me and it was difficult not to play through the game in one go (though it would have been possible). I think this is a good sign, if you are so tied to the story and want to know how it goes on.

I like the fact that apart from the puzzles, there are also some fights. Some would say that the mechanics are too simple, but I find it very pleasant not to be overwhelmed by having to remember many different key combinations and special abilities ... the opponents vary here and there and to some you have to adapt. After all, the game is not just about hack and slash ;)

I have to admit that I got this game in the Humble Bundle and thought it would go into my game-cemetery of unplayed games, but a day off and a bit of boredom literally changed my life.

30€ may seem a bit much for about 8 hours playing time but not if you realize the work and research that was put into this game... but thats always easy to say AFTER you got it^^
Wish list here I come, I would say at least!

TLTR:

Fantastic story based game that touches both mind and heart!
Should be among the top 3 on every wish list!
