Star Wars Outlaws takes place in "3 ABY" that's between Episodes 5&6 So after the 'Empire Strikes Back' and before 'Return of the Jedi'. It has decent graphics in gameplay but the cut-scenes are mediocre at best... The game itself originally is very immersive, but after the first few areas, it begins to lack depth and feeling. Its ambitious scope and lack of care from Ubisoft leaves the world feeling bland and uncared for. It's got a lot of "content" but it's shallow and easily completed, there is a lot of void space... There is no real love for the game. At the end of the day, it features the Ubisoft open-world classic: recycling the same repetitive elements, to 'fill' the game.

The combat and general gameplay are... lacking in features, it's not modern. It's what you would expect from a 2010 shooter, no way to hold cover/hug walls, shoot from a corner, just sit in the open (near a wall), and hope to out-aim the AI. The game is heavily stealth-focused, but for a stealth game the only mechanic they give you is crouch, and a pet (Nix) that you can command to distract things for you.

The entire aspect of the game is that you're pulling heists and if I wanted a heist game; I'd play Payday... The story-line CAN be interesting but most of the time it's kinda washed up and unappealing... There is no reason WHY some things are happening, they just kind of are... And Kay Vess's entire mentality is "I want credits. More credits." There is no greater scheme. Just credits. At least Han Solo has a purpose. Kay Vess doesn't.

You'll feel like you're playing Assassin's Creed again with all of the wall traversal with specifically crafted directions for you to travel. They created a typical storyline Star Wars game, gave it a few open terrain areas, and then called it an "Open World"

It’s a full-priced AAA game pushing season passes and cosmetics on day one, it's just another Ubisoft game, same thing, different IP. Cookie-Cutter game from Ubisoft. Ran up the hype. Fell short of expectations. Ruining everything they can get their hands on.

Overall so far, I'd rate the game as a 5/10 for 52$. Yes, that's the Ubisoft rating. With their money, they can do better. If this was coming from some other studio, that planned to improve it over time, easily an 8/10 IF they had plans for future content and making the shallow stuff better over time. But Ubisoft is a one-stop money pit. You won't get updates. We know how Ubisoft works.

I REALLY wish there was a neutral button. If you're a huge modern Star Wars fan (i.e. Disney series), send it, and get your fix until the next movie/series. If you're not that level of a die-hard Star Wars fan, don't buy it unless it's 50-75% off.

Holy ... This was a fun game when it came out, I've owned it for a long time...

Since then, this game has really gone down hill with TONS of DLC content...
I see that some of this is just skins, but a lot is actual gameplay things hidden behind a paywall.

Now... I made this review when I was really angry originally... So I'm going to rewrite it.

0/10

- Literally unplayable.
- I struggled just creating an account and logging into their service...
- I had to send 4 different emails before it actually allowed me to verify.
- They tried to loop me through their website and force me into repurchasing the game.

After about 45 minutes of fighting with creation of the account I was finally able to actually play the game...

And while this is completely personal preference... I hated the controls... I hate the mechanics... I just... hated everything.

I have 13 friends that own this game.... All have under 100 hours, 2 have over 50... and the rest have under 12 hours (8 below 4 hours)

Now for a 30$ game... No offense but... If you can't enjoy it for more than 10 hours... You're completely wasting your money. But hey... that's my opinion.
