8 years from release, and No Man's Sky has achieved what so many thought was improbable, if not impossible by completely redeeming the game from its interesting but lackluster launch state. I've come back to it a few times over the years, on PC and PS, and each time I have been more impressed than the last, and played more than before.

In an industry where perceived failure has become the basis for immediate and catastrophic cancellation of a product and in some cases complete withdrawal from the marketplace (looking at you, Sony), No Man's Sky is a testament to the dedication and love of the developers for gaming as well as a showcase of their passion for iterating and improving a product into the original imaginings that the creator intended - a refinement of what was originally coal into the diamond we have today.
The only other game that has redeemed itself as well as No Man's Sky is FFXIV - great company, indeed.
