I already own the Sims 2 Ultimate Collection, so a lot of people are saying that it's pointless to buy this release, as there's nothing changed. They are both wrong and right. The Ultimate Collection (UC) took a lot of fixes to get it running with minimal crashes. This one works right out the gate, no need to install third party fixes to get it to work. It's compatible with windows 11, I was hesitant to upgrade from win10 to 11 because I was worried it would break my installation of the UC, and now I have a future-proof solution so I can keep playing Sims 1/Sims 2 for the next few years. And most importantly, EA is releasing patches for their new Legacy editions. 20+ year old games, abandonware, are finally getting patches? Maybe I have too much faith in EA, but maybe they'll actually fix some of the gamebreaking bugs that required third party mods to "fix". So am I willing to pay 40 bucks for a rerelease of something I already own, just for the sake of getting new patches? Yes I am. I still play Sims 1/Sims 2 very often, Sims 2 being my favourite, and I will no doubt get a lot of hours out of this rerelease. Sure, it would've been nice if EA had given this out for free to existing owners of the UC, but we all know that was never going to happen.

Might update this review when I've played more hours and am able to compare to the UC.

TLDR A disappointment compared to the previous game in every way. I recommend it for hardcore puzzle enthusiasts but if you, like me, were a fan of the previous game, you'll be disappointed.

Unsure how to feel about this game. I felt kinda meh about a lot of it, mainly because it overstays it's welcome quite a bit.Especially the last hour or so of gameplay I was just ready for it to be over and I was trying to get to the ending ASAP.

I really enjoyed the previous game, it was hard as balls and there was a lot of backtracking, but a lot of it was fairly intuitive and the game was pretty good at giving you direction in the way the areas became accessible over time.

While Goetia 2 does part of this as well, with the new areas that unlock over time, there's a lot of back and forth and there's basically no direction whatsoever on what to do and where to go. While the first game had a fairly good flow, not sure what to call it, Goetia 2 comes to a screeching halt every time you collect a new item for the ritual.

Especially the final part of the game, my map bugged out. There's supposed to be question marks to mark all areas you haven't accessed yet, but mine disappeared from my map which caused me to have absolutely no idea where the newly accessible areas were.

There were a lot of other bugs too, like puzzles not detecting the correct solution and having to exit out of the game and load back in, in order to complete the puzzle and proceed to the next step.

I think the first game was just better in every way, better story, better characters, better direction, better gameplay flow. I wish I could give a neutral review but I can't.

I'm also kinda bummed there are no steam achievements for this game, so I can't get that 100% completion. It seems the devs have completely abandoned this game so I doubt they're ever going to add them.

I am atrociously bad at this game, but I enjoy it very much. The way my hearts start racing when I get past a difficult part is unrivaled to any other game. I thought Hades gave my heart a high BPM but it's got nothing on ADOFAI.

The absolute exhilarating euphoria I feel when I finally beat a song that I took 200 tries to beat doesn't come close to anything else.

Overall a good game, though I do wish the game would offer you more than one attempt when fighting bosses, like PoE gives you 6 portals. (I can hear the git gud scrubs screaming at me)
I do enjoy the endgame more than the actual campaign, I felt like the devs went too hard on the campaign and it drags on a little. I like the skill and build making systems, there's a lot of depth to do whatever you want. Very fun, lots of replay value. I do have to add one note of warning. There seems to be a problem with dividing RAM/memory leaks, so despite having 32GB available I need to close other programs to be able to run the game without crashes. Makes it kinda difficult with streaming.

Probably my favourite in the series, the puzzles are fun and intuitive, challenging enough but I never felt truly stuck.
The movement/navigation is faster and more responsive, which makes the whole game feel smoother to play.
I loved the whole idea behind the dollhouse and the different rooms that became inaccessible once completed.
That way it kept the backtracking to a minimum. The ambiance was fantastic as usual and I loved the story.
Wholeheartedly recommend if you love puzzle games.

This is one of my favourite games that I recommend to basically everyone I know.
It's short and simple but has a really satisfying game loop that you keep coming back to.
Fighting enemies to hoard loot to sell in your shop is really rewarding.
I spent way too many hours just crafting stuff because I could
because it felt good to craft every single item in the game,
and not because I actually needed it.
Enemy design is really well-done, every enemy requires a different approach to learn their attack patterns and how to evade them. Boss fights are fantastic, though I wish there was a way to repeat bosses without replaying the whole game.
Every weapon feels unique to play and it's fun to experiment and figure out which you enjoy the most.
My only complaint would be that dungeon generation is random, which means you sometimes stumble upon rooms with large quantities of harmful surfaces that require pixel-perfect dodges in order to take no damage, meaning you'll probably take damage 90% of the time. This is just a small flaw in the dungeon generation and takes no enjoyment away from the overall game though, so it feels like nitpicking to even mention it.

If you want a cute and cozy roguelite that's half shop simulation, look no further, you won't regret it!

Fantastic sequel, the puzzles were much more challenging and the map was huge. My only complaint would be that there was a lot of backtracking to previous areas, and because the map was so large, it was hard to find what exactly you were supposed to interact with. The previous game was divided in much smaller segments so you didn't have as much ground to cover. I can't wait for the third and final installment, which should hopefully be released by summer 2024. For the horror fans among us, this game was also much scarier than the previous, and I got spooked/jumpscared a handful of times. Highly recommend this series if you love puzzle games with a spooky aesthetic.

Very cute and atmospheric little puzzle game with a surprising amount of feels at the end.
A lot of times I found myself baffled and confused when I approached a puzzle, only to realize the solution after doing some more exploring throughout the level. So for my fellow players, explore first, solve puzzles after.

Definitely worth it for that price point, and I loved all the sneaky little references/easter eggs to Silence of the Sleep and the Distraint games!

When I read other reviewers saying this game was difficult, I thought they were exaggerating.
They were not. This game is hard as balls.
I really enjoyed it though. The game gives you barely any hints on what to do, and the game is pretty big.
As you progress through the game you unlock more sections you weren't able to explore previously,
so it's not as if there's no direction at all. The story is great, I really loved the twist at the end.
The writing is fantastic, you learn so much about the other characters through the various notes and journals you find.
The atmosphere/ambiance is great, though I wish there were a few more soundtracks to make the audio a little less monotonous. Some of the puzzles require some musical knowledge in order to complete, but I luckily play the violin so I was able to complete them. (Though not without struggle)
My only complaint would be that the world is huge and it can take a while to travel through it,
other puzzle games I've played allowed me to fast-travel to each room I've explored,
but in Goetia there's only a handful of rooms that are a fast-travel location,
and you will have to do a lot of back-and-forth and spend a lot of time traveling between locations.
It would also help if the rooms on the map were named or marked so it's easier to distinguish between them.

All in all, if you enjoy brutally hard puzzle games with a great story/narrative, don't hesitate to give it a try.
But if you're someone who gives up easily, this might not be the game for you.

On one hand, Alan Wake is a fantastic game with a great storyline and interesting characters.
On the other hand, it's way too combat-heavy for a horror game, which ruins the suspense,
and it's a tad too long to be entirely enjoyable from beginning to end. Toward the end of the game, I was really ready to be done with it. If the game was just a tad shorter, or had less combat, it would've been a true diamond. Now I gotta give it a 8/10
