Every once in a while you get a game that is so clearly going to continue to appear on "games of the generation" and "greatest games of all time" lists. Baldur's Gate 3 will be on both and deservedly so. A staggering work.

Who knew a parody game could genuinely have something going for it?

What looks at first glance like nostalgia-bating game jam material is actually very lovingly crafted and charming. Referential and reverential while still managing to be its own thing. A gem.

I really wanted to love this. A literal Blood Moon is a wonderfully evocative setting, and there's a some excellent sound design at work here. The problem is that the tension builds and it builds and... It just doesn't pay off. If you think you know what's coming, you're right. No surprises here.

If I'm going to be edged for 90 minutes, I'd like a proper climax. Sorry, David. It's a great exercise in minimalist game making, but as a horror story, it's missing that crucial piece.

Exceptionally creative, nuanced, and genuinely funny writing coupled with a roleplaying system that rewards successes and failures in different measures. I don't mean to use superlatives, but here we go: one of the best RPGs of all time. Begs to be played and replayed.

The best idle game I've ever played. For what that's worth.

Despite some very strict stat management, this is one of the few RPGs I've genuinely felt I could replay more than once and experience a completely different playthrough.

This is probably one of my all time favourites, even if some of its elements - like combat - don't quite come together. The world building, the mystery at hand, the consistent and realistic upending of expectation are just second to none. Wonderfully localized and simply unlike anything else out there. This is a Russian game at its best, most imaginatively nihilistic.

If you're worried about dying, don't be. Die. Despite the minor mechanical penalties (and they truly are minor), there are... Reasons I won't spoil to embrace death. The only true annoyance I had was the lack of a quicksave, which if you're in a bind and need to step away can be overcome by hitting ctrl + shift + f4 and typing save_game in the console. The addition of difficulty sliders allows you to truly play this any way you want to.

A massive structural improvement from the original Pathologic. I dearly hope we get to see the other two characters made playable.

An excellent forensic puzzle-solver and a great follow-up from Lucas Pope. Looking forward to more :).

Love rhythm games? Enjoy a good pacifist run in Geometry Wars? Put your hands together for my favourite game of the year. I adore this. I need several litres of DLC and a level creator injected into my veins, stat.

Buy this, buy this, buy this.

My only complaint is that unlocking the bonus songs is a grind I'm never going to do. It's a poor decision on the part of the developers since most people will never see that content, but hey, the base game is wonderful as is.
