MANAGED DEMOCRACY AT ITS FINEST

A followup to the cinematic masterpiece, Pasta la Vista (now delisted, don't let them tell you this game doesn't exist, #pastagate) this game is an improvement in every way. Not only did they ditch the theme of pasta, they also made it an in space shooter with ship customization, voice acting, and a couple of cute missions. Would recommend.

CD Projekt Red set out to create a game like no other with Cyberpunk. At launch, we all know how that went. 3 years later...and that vision has finally come to life...sort of. Phantom Liberty takes everything that was good about the base game and cranks it up to 11. The story, in my opinion, is FANTASTIC, and feels different from the main story. The combat is good, and the skill tree, while not as full as it used to be, offers some really fun perks and helps to interact more with your character and directly affect them. The new side gigs are where this expansion really shines to me though. The side missions in the base game have some different choices you can make on certain missions, but so far in the one's I've played, the quality is insane for gigs. There's different choices you can make on almost all of them, multiple different ways to go about it with multiple paths to get where you want to go, and you can even follow up with some of the NPC's after to find out how your choice impacted them and others. It's just a level of polish I didn't expect to see for some missions that aren't even labeled as side quests.

There is one major gripe I have with the expansion though. At the time of writing this, there is loot EVERYWHERE. Like, you can't turn a street on Dogtown without finding a purple rarity weapon or some some dead NPC who's carrying 8000 eddies in his pocket. I like to collect loot as much as the next guy, but it feels to me that it just breaks the economy. I went to a gun shop and sold my entire inventory of purple weapons I picked up off the ground for 100,000 eddies. It kinda just makes doing side gigs useless, there's no reason to spend time on a quest that's gonna give you 2000 eddies if you can pick up a gun off the street that's gonna give you almost that amount of money or more in a quicker time. Maybe just tune back the amount of random loot that spawns, especially since that will give people more reasons to do the awesome side quests/gigs and the air drops.

Overall thoughts: This game is finally where it should have been at release. Can't say I didn't like the release version, but I would gladly take this over 1.0 any day, and the expansion is a nice cherry on top. Well done CD Projeckt Red. The game is truly fixed.

I'm not a huge fan of visual novels. With that being said...I was absolutely hooked on this game for the 7 hours I played and beat it. A great story, great music to relax or rock out to, and some game-play that, while not super difficult, allowed you to have some great and funny conversations with your 3d printer (trust me, it will make sense if you play it), and allowed you to just relax and unwind to some simple tasks. A great little game to play if you just want something light!
