Very grateful we PC players are finally able to enjoy the Enhanced & Expanded version.

About time!

Apart from that, it amazes me how difficult it is for some to feel gratefulness.
(Heh, so easily demanding it from real world leaders. Oh, the irony)

Ah, by the way, since so many reviews and comments at the forums are filled with stupidity, one thing has become clear:

You should have paid more attention to what Rockstar was telling you over the years and through masterpiece after masterpiece:

America Will Never Be Great Again

It has taken me weeks to write this review.
Not because I don't know what to say about the game, but because I want these words to honour its excellence, without being hyperbolic but saying what I honestly think this game really is.

For years I heard this is the game with which gaming reached its adulthood.
And it is true.

Sometimes it feels like being in a classic movie, such as Unforgiven.
Also true.

I constantly felt I was comparing it to certain Cormac McCarthy's novels, specifically The Border Trilogy[en.wikipedia.org].
In fact one of the main themes of the game reminds me a lot of the ending of Cities on a Plain: how civilisation has no place for those who don't adapt to industrialism. It also felt many a time like Blood Meridian[en.wikipedia.org], with all its cruelty.

But not only that.
I constantly felt like being inside a Ken Burns documentary. From The West[en.wikipedia.org] to The American Buffalo[en.wikipedia.org].

It goes without saying that RDR2 is a flawless representation of that period in history.
A true Academic document.

But there is more.
You can play the game and perceive a layer, let's say an action western or a movie.
But you can play it and fall into the study of nature, on a deeper level.
Or play it and pay attention to the small details, such as the conversations at the bonfire, or the journal...
and then you realise you stand before one of the most impressive accomplishments in the history of gaming.

Because just like a great novel can transform you after reading it, this "game" can have the same effect on you.

Which is why, after constraining my words for weeks, I think it is fair to say this is, in my humble opinion,
the best videogame ever made.

I don't mean the one you, or me, or anyone, have to like it the most.
I mean it in the sense that I don't think there is going to be something similar for a very long time, and we are very lucky for having it.

But I also love and admire this game beyond words.

When this game was released it became one of the best games ever made.

Still is

I care not about how much it costs, I am just happy this game is available for PC
A masterpiece is priceless

And it does not need a "remake", it is still gorgeous to look at

CAVEAT - It is highly recommended to play Red Dead Redemption 1 BEFORE playing RDR2, even though the events of the first game take place after the sequel.

Precisely for that

I would recommend NOT to touch Undead Nightmare until the campaign is finished.
The dlc contains heavy spoilers for the game and exposes the map much faster. It IS fun and cool!, but much less than the main campaign, which story is still unbeatable and only heightened by its sequel

This game is an absolute masterpiece.
How many years has it been?
Just returning to it feels amazing still.

RTX looks absolutely gorgeous.
I just had to enable ultra performance and DLSS and it works great.
An absolute beauty on an absolute masterpiece

Monument Valley 1 & 2 are games that I recommend to non-gamers

A message to those who haven't played the original Trilogy (like me).

Do NOT wait

These versions are good enough, and sometimes they are considerably beautiful.
I have not found gamebreaking glitches at all.
In fact, what I've found is a huge amount of hours of excellent gaming. I've completed GTA III and Vice City having a LOT of fun, and San Andreas is next.
It's just that in this case I am going to take my sweet time, because San Andreas puts GTA V to shame.

It is not only arguably the Best GTA game ever made, but it is something that I don't think we will find in GTA VI. If anything, I am afraid we will find more of the same as with V. VERY beautiful, but VERY cheap when compared to the Classics, and IV.

So do NOT wait for more embellishing updates, or lose time reading about how good these Definitive Editions could have been. Forget all that noise. The weapon wheel and the aiming (omg it was terrible in the so-often-praised vanilla versions) make these DE more than worth it, and there are many other things that make these versions far more playable.

So you can stay hesitant, reading complaints and criticism from high horses and rockstar haters, or you can just buy these game at -50% (or full price if you can afford it) because you will feel they are very worth your money and time.

Or you can buy the pack just for San Andreas, because this is one of the best games ever made.
Not only the best GTA there is.

And we will never get anything like this
Ever again.

Think about it.

I am just learning the map for when GTA VI arrives.

:P

Now seriously: I am enjoying the Definitive Editions very very much, and I am very happy I bought them.

Like, I think I am going to stop listening to all of those whose only interest is to teach you to hate?

Life gets much better.

When you play a game for 1,609 hours (and counting!) and you still like the music, two things are clear:
  • The game is a masterpiece

  • The soundtrack is just as good
The good news is that the version of the songs included in these two discs are enhanced and improved, so if you have played the game before and you are hesitant about the soundtrack, don't be

And if you never played the game before, please give it a try.
This is a case of some serious good gaming here.

A beautiful story about friendship, and a profound lesson about how to treat your neighbours

Now seriously: I haven't found any gamebreaking trolls flying in the sky

Now seriously: I am glad I bought this. I thought it was going to be rather outdated, but I guess old school games have something that latest ones seem to lack.

Fun?
