Early Access Review
Game is excellent, despite folks deciding permanent reviews are the place to post temporary balance feedback.

Here's a tip for getting started: early access is going to have swingy balance! And they are, right now, implementing hotfixes to address complaints that the game is too hard this patch, over their weekend. Seems pretty pog to me.

Genuinely incredible game that had server issues for two days at launch. Does a very good job of making the genre accessible and compelling at the same time, which is no easy feat.

Itorah is not a difficult metroidvania, but it is a beautiful one. Every bit of the presentation layer of the game is made with love and a wild attention to detail; the layers of the background, the animations (especially during character interactions), the lighting effects and silhouettes, the music - I was delighted with all of the little details. Props to the bells. I was surprised how emotionally impacted I felt by the end of the game.

If you tried Hollow Knight but felt that the combat was a bit too much, or that getting lost was a little annoying, this game might strike a nice balance for you. As for me, I did find myself wishing for a hard mode or NG+ with meatier fights and more complex platforming; the game feels so smooth and kinetic in the air by the end (as long as you don't try to change directions without a wall jump) that I was hoping for a place to push the limits of the platforming.

Another thing that I wanted by the end: more. The animations between characters, the familiarity between the main character and the others when waking up from a rest, had me wishing for a longer adventure game with more narrative and dialog. Everyone is so characterful, and the animations express so much, that I just didn't want the story to stop.

I thought Itorah would be a fun, cute ride. With its relatively easy difficulty, I never thought it would become one of my favorite Metroidvanias. I was delightfully surprised.

Early Access Review
Fun tactics game! Been looking for something like this for years. Still a little rough around the edges, as expected of an early access game - lots of placeholder art, the out-of-combat menues are a little low-fi at the moment - but it's enjoyable, and gives you a generous number of boxes to start your collection upon completing the tutorial. Very easy game to jump in and try out.
