A simple concept executing amazingly well. I genuinely think this game could be for anyone as long as they have the patience. Fantastic art direction and presentation too. I am super excited to see what else LocalThunk has in store for Balatro.

Poorly designed battlefield wannabe. It has no unique or interesting visual style and does nothing to improve on the genre. Decent arsenal, soldier combat is "okay", but has terrible vehicle combat, terrible maps, terrible community. Best thing I can say is that proximity chat is funny, until someone is blasting whatever reddit's favorite le funny song is that week. Honestly just needs a sequel with a 4 year dev time, and an actual art team or something. God it's so boring. No shotguns? Seriously? You're that sensitive?

It might just be the funniest game ever. Impressively good with simple mechanics.

HM2 is truly the successor to HM1 with an even better aesthetic, soundtrack, narrative & slightly more gameplay depth. Despite it's minor controversy, it re-enforced Hotline Miami's grip in the wider indie game landscape by solidifying it's legacy.
It came out right when I was the most online as a young teenager and it completely shaped what I would find 'cool' for years to come. This one is definitely a must-play.
