"Still Wakes the Deep" – A Hauntingly Memorable Dive into Isolation and Terror.

"Still Wakes the Deep" is a psychological horror game developed by The Chinese Room, set on the desolate oil rig Beira D in the harsh North Sea, December 1975. From the moment you step into the boots of Cameron "Caz" McLeary, a Glaswegian electrician, you're thrust into a world of tension, danger, and unrelenting isolation. The rig is both your sanctuary and your prison, as a catastrophic event unleashes unimaginable horrors that make survival a constant struggle.

Atmosphere: A Masterpiece of World Design.

One of the standout elements of this game is its meticulously crafted environment. Every corner of the rig feels alive—cracks in the walls, puddles pooling in corridors, and rust eating away at metal surfaces add to the sense of decay and danger. Small details, from scattered tools to handwritten notes, flesh out a world that feels lived-in yet abandoned. The Unreal Engine 5 is used to perfection here, with its stunning lighting creating deep shadows, sharp contrasts, and eerie glows that heighten the sense of foreboding. The environment isn't just a backdrop; it feels like a character in itself—alive, brooding, and dangerous.

Sound Design: Immersive and Unnerving.

The soundscape in "Still Wakes the Deep" is nothing short of phenomenal. Every moment is filled with atmospheric noises, from the creaks and groans of the rig straining against the storm to the rhythmic patter of rain against metal. It creates an ever-present tension, a feeling that danger could emerge at any moment. The subtle growls and whispers from unseen threats make the experience even more unnerving, pulling you further into its psychological grip. The game excels at making silence just as terrifying as noise, using audio cues to guide and terrify you in equal measure.

Gameplay: Simplicity Meets Impact.

After an introductory segment that introduces you to the rig and its crew, the game quickly plunges into darkness—both figuratively and literally. From here, the game leans heavily into its "walking simulator" roots, with an emphasis on exploration and atmosphere over combat or complex mechanics. This isn't a game about fighting back; it's about surviving. The claustrophobic corridors of the rig, the constant threat of unseen horrors, and the oppressive atmosphere make every step forward feel like an act of courage. At its core, it’s a survival horror experience that thrives on tension and anticipation.

Narrative: Short but Gripping.

The story unfolds in a tight, focused manner. It introduces you to the rig’s crew just enough to make their plight meaningful, then quickly ramps up the tension. The pacing is relentless, keeping you on edge throughout its brief runtime. While the game can be completed in around 4 hours, those hours are packed with memorable moments and a sense of growing dread that lingers long after the credits roll.

Strengths and Weaknesses.

"Still Wakes the Deep" shines in its ability to immerse players in a richly detailed and terrifying world. The visuals, audio, and atmosphere come together to create an unforgettable experience. However, its brevity may leave some players wanting more. For those accustomed to longer or more mechanically complex games, the linearity and focus on atmosphere over action might feel limiting. Additionally, certain late-game mechanics and the overall linear structure have faced criticism.

Final Verdict: A Chilling Masterpiece.

"Still Wakes the Deep" is a testament to the power of atmosphere and storytelling in gaming. While it may be short, it makes up for it with quality. Every detail, every sound, every shadow contributes to an experience that stays with you. For fans of psychological horror or anyone who appreciates a game that prioritizes mood and immersion, this is a must-play. It may only take 4 hours to complete, but it’s a journey worth every penny—and one you won’t soon forget.

Paperhead: EP.0 - A Fury-Fueled Shooter Set in a Cardboard Hellscape.

Let me start by saying, EP.0 is not your average shooter. It’s dark, it's gritty, and it’s unrelenting. Think of a world made of cardboard, drenched in blood, monsters around every corner, and an adrenaline-pumping soundtrack that pushes you to the edge of your seat. This is a fast-paced movement shooter like no other, and it’s an absolute blast.

I’ve been hooked on this game ever since I first played the demo, and it's only gotten better with the EP.0 release. The demo was promising, sure, but now that we’re here with EP.0, it's clear that the devs have taken all the potential and unleashed it full force.

Storytelling & Atmosphere

The story might seem like a chaotic fever dream at first, and it is—but in the best possible way. You’re thrown into a nightmarish world where cardboard grotesque monsters prowl every corner. There’s an eerie vibe to it all, like a twisted version of a childhood toy box gone wrong. But the beauty of EP.0 lies in how well the atmosphere and storytelling come together, it’s compelling as hell.

The audio design deserves a shout-out here too. Every gunshot, every monstrous growl, every ambient noise adds layers of tension to the experience. The sound design is tight, immersive, and damn well executed, further pulling you into the madness.

Combat & Gameplay

This is a movement shooter through and through. The emphasis is on speed, agility, and brutal efficiency. You’re not just shooting your way through waves of enemies—you’re moving. Parkour, high-speed combat, wall-jumping, and sliding—this is a game that makes you feel like a monster yourself as you leap and slide through a world designed to break you down. The controls are tight, responsive, and make you feel unstoppable. But don’t get too cocky; the enemies are relentless, and you’ll need every ounce of skill to survive.

And the monsters? They're wild. I mean, who comes up with this stuff? It’s like someone took the most horrifying creatures from every nightmare and stitched them together in some twisted arts-and-crafts project. These aren't your typical monsters; they're preposterous, grotesque, and, most importantly, fun to fight. The combat's satisfying in its brutality, and there’s nothing quite like watching a huge, blood-spurting beast collapse in a flurry of gunfire and violence.

Art Style & Visuals

The world of EP.0 is unlike anything you’ve seen before. The game is visually stunning in its weirdness. The whole cardboard aesthetic is not just a gimmick—it adds an incredible texture to the environment. Every building, every enemy, and even the weapons themselves have that rough, handmade look that gives the world an eerie sense of imperfection. It’s like you’re fighting through some twisted version of a diorama. The world feels alive, yet strangely dead at the same time, and that only adds to the dread that courses through your veins as you play.

Music & Soundtrack

EP.0's OST? It ROCKS. The music is *hard-hitting*, intense, and perfectly complements the madness happening on-screen. Every battle is accompanied by heart-pounding tunes that keep the pace high and the tension even higher. It’s the kind of soundtrack that sticks with you even after you’ve put the controllers. It’s got that raw energy that pushes you to keep going, no matter how many monsters are in your way.

The Dev Team & Community

For a small indie dev team, the folks behind EP.0 have done an amazing job. Not only is the game impressive, but they are also incredibly responsive to feedback. It’s rare to see a team so invested in their community, and that level of dedication shines through in every aspect of the game. They deserve all the success that comes their way because EP.0 is something special.

Final Thoughts

EP.0 is an exhilarating, high-octane shooter that’s not afraid to be weird, gritty, and brutal. The dark, cardboard world is the perfect backdrop for a movement shooter that demands precision, agility, and a whole lot of firepower. The gameplay, the atmosphere, the music—everything clicks, and it all adds up to a game that I keep coming back to. I’ve replayed it at least three or four times now, and I’m still finding new ways to die.

If you’re a fan of dark, fast-paced shooters, EP.0 is a must-play. It might not be the biggest name on the block, but it’s got everything it needs to carve out a legacy. Don’t sleep on this one. The devs have something great here, and it’s worth your time, attention, and support.

Voidside is a fast paced moment shooter where you grind to get the highest score.
or get RSI with the pistol, lol.
A very simple game that is great for killing time and doesn't require a lot of thought.

The Developer is very active and invested in his game.
Listens to feedback and actions what he can to improve the game.
The game has planed updates and new features such as more maps and new enemies.

A great game for a dime to pass the time.

Trepang2 is a Visceral Ballet of Bullets and Blood.

Thank you, Trepang Studios, for crafting a game that not only reignites the flame of classic shooters but also pushes the boundaries of intensity and engagement.
Trepang2 is a masterpiece in the FPS genre, blending breakneck pace with breathtaking brutality.

From the very beginning, I've been blessed with the rare opportunity to both follow and contribute to the game’s development. The gameplay is nothing short of revolutionary.
Non-stop carnage paired with meticulous attention to both visual and auditory details. Currently, with over 130 hours logged in the full game, I find myself repeatedly revisiting save points to relive the adrenaline-pumping firefights.

For those in search of a fast-paced, ultra-violent experience with up-close combat, Trepang2 delivers in spades.
The soundtrack, composed by the talented Brandon McKagan, complements the action perfectly, packing more punch than a spirited congregation at Sunday service.

My journey with Trepang2 began back in 2018, captivated by an indie demo that filled a void left by 2005’s F.E.A.R.
This game seamlessly blends close-quarters, fast-paced melee combat with smooth gameplay that flows effortlessly.

A personal milestone was when Wilson from Trepang Studios reached out to use one of my videos, further cementing my deep connection with both the game and its creators. Over the years, I've been privileged to receive early builds, witnessing first hand the game’s evolution from its early days to its current polished state.

For an indie team, Trepang Studios has crafted an experience that outshines many AAA titles.
If I didn’t already own Trepang2, it would be a definite purchase.
Here’s to many more hours of exhilarating gameplay and continued success for Trepang Studios!

Here's a short video covering 2017 to 2019 of the game development.

Trepanng 2.
What an amazing experience, this demo is.

I have spent years and years playing around with ways to kill enemies in F.E.A.R. between the story and multiplayer.
I never thought I would ever find another game that gives the feeling of free movement, speed, agility, power that F.E.A.R. brought to my heart since 2005.

Back in 2018 I came across this little gem and I haven't stopped following it's development.
Trepang 2 (placeholder name) has come a long way and OMG, your in for a treat.
Especially if you like games like F.E.A.R. Crysis, Bulletstorm.

Trepang 2 demo gives you a taste of what is cooking at Trepang Studios.
There is: Slow Motion (Bullet Time), Cloaking, Melee Combat, Gore and Dismemberment, destructible environment, what more could you ask for in a game...
Play it stealthy or fast and hard. No matter your play style the game just feels good.
In this demo there is the prologue story level and two Horde Mode maps.

It is on my wish list and it should be on yours.
If you haven't downloaded a copy yet, please do.

Below is links to two videos I made from the demo:

I love this game.
I stated playing this in the MP Beta in August 2005 and still play it today.
The online community is quiet, but the game is still so much fun.

The single player is fast paced and violent.
The multi player is F.R.E.E. and well worth downloading.
