I've owned this game since Jan 2023 and it was worth it then and got me hooked at the time. I'm surprised how many updates have been added since then and surprised it's still in Early Access. The content you get for like $6 on sale and $10 base? Insane. Easy buy if you like this genre, there's a lot of depth and build variety which is the fun part of these games.

The game is fun as hell, shard cards are almost like roguelike modifiers per round that keep you wanting to play more, because each round will be different. The menu is a labyrinth of more menus but it's all for cosmetic BS, stick to the PLAY button and you'll want to keep playing.

The best thing this game has going for it is its art style. The game is beautiful, there's quite a few levels that are awesome to be in. However, the game's story and voice-over is quite bad. It feels generic and that's fine, it's a boomer shooter so it's more about shooting and chaotic fights anyway, but I wonder if they really embraced their strong suit in the second installment. I think this game would be so much better as a slower paced game with a stronger story and maybe more level exploration. Overall it's a 6 or 7 / 10, good experience, not too short or too long.

This game is very unique. It's also relatively hard, and it's great for both of those reasons. It has a sweet spot mechanic between roguelike and roguelite; deaths are permanent, but with planning you can keep a little of what you earned to try, yet again, to escape Slasher's Keep. (Also, I love the art style)

I put in about 30 hours before the 1.0 launch (proving how fun the gameplay loop was - even without like 1/4th of the features/content it now has at launch). Now this game is amazing . Highly recommend. It's strong suits are the gunplay / movement.

I have to leave a positive review to fight some of the negativity here. The game IS great, it's GOING to be great when it's fully released. I don't even know these developers, I never played Curse of the Dead Gods, but just look at the gameplay. The game has a wonderful aesthetic, it's smooth to play, and it's FUN to play. You get to have fun in level 1 while they develop the rest of the game? I'll gladly support!

(EDIT 18 months later): Turns out I was right, this is my most played roguelike action game and it's still being updated and keeps getting better and better!

It's nice just to walk through colored landscapes with peaceful nature sounds & escape from the harsh winter reality you live in. Pretty game.

Amazing game, so glad I purchased this. Rekindled some enjoyment of gaming for me.
The art style, theme, gameplay, and replayability are all enticing. 10/10

Amazing game with great music, storytelling (the narration!!) , and fighting mechanics. Definitely worth the pickup.
I even took the time to 100% it because it was so fun.
