Re-Installed and tried this game now in 2024

- And the only thing i like is still about this game is the campaign...
Everything else is a total downgrade from CoH2!!

Things i hate about this game:
The Lack of Game Options!
The Lack of: Rebind Options !!!
It anoy's the ♥♥♥♥ out me! Why the hell can we not rebind keys to our preference?!?!?

Played a couple of games.. And when I was done I uninstalled it again.. xD

This is my own opinion.. The game is fine for those of who love the DLC-Madness this game have turned into....
But even tho I have 60+ hours in this game. I feel this game has missed out on so much. im sure some find it amazing to explore 4+ new interrely pointless worlds

it had potential to become so much fun with line battles, cannons and more! Its the 1800s for christ sake!!
and before all the fanbois yell at me: BUT ITS ANNO! ITS NOT MEANT FOR COMBAT?!

Oh really?! Look at the old games- 1503 - 1701 - 1401 and say that again! Heck even 2070 have better combat then 1800
And another small thing that makes my Pi'ss boil is in Anno 1800 there is Female Admirals ON EVERY SHIP!?! Dafüq!? No woman where allowed on ships doing the 1800s! certainly not in the: Queen Elisabeth: Her Mastrity Queen's Royal Navy!

Would i recommend the game?! Sure - am i disapointed? Fûck Yeah i am!

do you want to be evil and kill everyone the option is there
Every geek's dream is also to have a romance with his companions. yes, you can do that here too
endless possibilities are to be found in Baldur's Gate, there is a good reason why they stole almost all the prizes
in countless prize distributions

I have turned everything down to medium, all shadows removed, Depth of Field Quality Turned OFF
The game runs with 80-95fps from the start of a new city
hours later with 16.000 people in my city! I still have decent fps 45-55fps

All the people out there with high end PCs that expect FULL Performance ALL MAXED OUT! Just because they have the hardware - are brain dead... 😵 And they have no clue how to optimize game-play own their own.. until the hot-fixes have been released....

To Be Honest - At First I hated the EG2!! I was looking more for a Remake of the First Evil Genius.
- But after a while. I looked at it as a new game. And it grew on me. I am now enjoying it!

- I see alot complaining about HEAT, and Minions not being good enough to defeat agents...
This game is meant to be a TIME-CONSUMING GAME! - I am 30+ hours in my campaign and only half way (i think) If you rush ahead..
You will get punished, if you are not ready and able to take care of the incomming threat. That is your own fault and you will loose.

TIPS:
- Only Focus stealing on 1 World Region - Early game (its better to deal with 1 SuperAgent, then 5)
- Steal from the Regions furthest away from your base (less heat and less detection back to base)
- Move to more Regions when you feel Ready and have the Casino up and Running.
- Use your Casino Wisely! and be smart! - Make a maze for the Agents, use decor items to tunnel them to multiple Casino tables, Have alot of Social Minions
- Build Decor Items that helps: Morale - Health - Smarts in all rooms!
- Build Power & Vault in the basement
- Take your time with research. complete 2-3 side missions before doing main quests
- Crime-Networks in "LockDown" are okay. a 5min lockdown is better then trying to stop it and getting Super Agents after you
- Take your time. dont rush, its not that kinda game.

I know this was not in the orignal games. but I personally think the game lacks AttackMove and Waypoints for units... But that is a luxury habit from OpenRA or CNCnet xD

Well some might disagree with the above. But as I personally love the Napoleonic Era.
I enjoy this game alot, many say that "NTW" was the fix to "Empire" I would disagree. They are certainly two very different games, even though they kinda play the same with "steel & gunpowder"

On its on "Vanilla" is quite good. And the different Campaigns are decent.
Napoleons Personal Campaigns are well done, and you learn a great deal about the history of this Era.

For the full "Immersive Experience" I Recommend: DarthMod
DarthMod: allows you play with "ALOT" more historical units, ships & cannons and, it allows you to play any faction you want.

DLC I recommend: None!
With Darthmod you get what you need! xD

On its own.. It works and is somewhat true to history
But the "vanilla" version is just not good enough... Well atleast IMO.
I Recommend anyday, anytime you play with the mod: Divided et Impera
The mod that overhauls the game completely and makes it better in every way. The way it should have been.

With the newest patch and the familly tree finally there.. and Diplomacy/Decisions have been boosted, so its certainly better then it was at Launch. Because that was one buggy mess..

In terms of DLC content I recommend:

The rest is useless IMO.

An Absolut Classic! - Remastered to Perfection!
I played the original and its campaigns hundreds of times. And coming back to it with the remaster, was an absolute thrill..
I would recommend this game for anyone who loves the "old style" of RTS. If not for the intense Multiplayer battles? Then for the extreme well done campaigns. And history lessons you learn by playing them.

(I am DieHard AoE Fan so alot may disagreee)

(its easier to compare this to Cossacks, which is also made by CSC Games even tho its a bit different but overall its a good game.)

"Good Stuff"

- Good Gameplay, Massive Armies of 20k +
- Hundreds Hours of Enteraintment (I know I only have 30+hrs on Steam. had the game on DVD before i got it on Steam)
- Runs on any Potato PC from 2000 -> Today
- Great Campaigns on America's History. With some European and Russian History

"Bad Stuff"

- Game is old and dated in graphics, "some" have more problems running on Win10 then others
- Games against Bots / AI gets repetitive quickly as its always the same they do.
- A pain to get working in Multiplayer..... :( (PortForwarding may be needed)
