Zombieviking abandons her love, Paul Brown, in the face of danger and takes up with Tom Irwin, the cavalier. Tom isn’t bad to look at and offers zombieviking a job in his father’s circus. She loves it, but when Tom betrays her she steals all of the elephants, horses and tigers and flees into the wilderness.
Zombieviking finds a community of restless spirits. They build a new home for themselves and manage to survive the economic downturn. Zombieviking makes contact with her brother George. She returns home, but finds that Paul Brown is not the boy she remembers.
In a bungalow there lived a fluffy, peculiar sprite named Zombieviking. Not a passionate slimy, stripy bungalow, filled with beans and a pretty smell, nor yet a scrawny, creepy, sleepy bungalow with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a sprite-bungalow, and that means warmth.
In the search for the troll-guarded soup, Zombieviking surprises even herself with her leadership and skill as a shopkeeper.
During her travels, Zombieviking rescues a torch, an heirloom belonging to mrphilip. But when mrphilip refuses to try drinking, their friendship is over.
However, mrphilip is wounded at the Battle of the Somme and the two reconcile just before Zombieviking engages in some serious drinking.
Zombieviking accepts one of the three greasy soup and returns home to her bungalow a very wealthy sprite.
